Causality 5. Selfishness

author:Fang Decay i

The journey of the avenue is also the public of the world. The old man does not kiss his relatives alone, does not have only sons and sons, so that the old will have an end, the strong will be useful, the young will grow, the widows, the lonely and the sick will all be nurtured, the men will have a share, and the women will return. It is not necessary to hide it from itself if it is evil to the earth; it is not necessary to be evil from the body, nor does it have to be for itself. It is the reason for the conspiracy to close but not to be happy, the theft and the thief without doing it, so the foreign household is not closed, which is called datong. "The Great Unity of Etiquette"

When we were young, adults always told us to be polite, civilized, honest and trustworthy, positive and optimistic, and ... But when we grow up slowly, but find that adults teach us these things but even they can not abide by themselves, as we grow up, the more knowledge we learn, the more things we see, we finally find that we can not live as adults teach us, that does not make our lives better, in many cases, humility will be considered weak, honesty and trustworthiness will be laughed at is stupid... And we will always find that those who are sleek seem to be able to live better in this world, why? Are these so-called virtues that we were taught from an early age wrong?

After a long period of observation and thinking, we have to admit that human nature is selfish, people are born selfish, but there is nothing wrong with this, people live ultimately for themselves, this is natural, the so-called people do not die for themselves, the word here can be said to make sense whether it is read twice or four times. So what the "Great Book of Etiquette" says about the world being just will never be realized? Is it impossible for us to realize the ultimate ideal of socialism? Of course not, selfishness is selfish, but selfishness does not mean that there is only selfishness, not altruism. Here we must first redefine the meaning of selfishness, the Chinese interpretation of selfishness is: only for their own interests, regardless of others. Let's change it, turn selfishness into a more descriptive neutral word, abandon the derogatory component, selfishness: satisfying one's own interests, fulfilling one's own interests, or in layman's terms: being good to oneself and doing what is good for oneself.

Then we think about another question, since we are all selfish in the beginning, then why do we need to do something that is good for others, and may even harm our own interests? Does this seem to contradict the definition of selfishness? Think about when we were young, when we had good food, we always wanted to keep it for ourselves, but our parents and teachers would tell us that this was not right, and we had to learn to share, so what was the meaning of sharing? What is it for? Even all our other virtues, why do fathers always teach us to obey them? What is the meaning of virtue?

This question has been bothering me until one day I thought of a question: I feel that I am a very lazy person in life, but most of the people I have come into contact with think that I am a very diligent person, why? Because although I am very lazy, I still understand that there are some things in life that must be done, and if I don't do it today, I have to do it tomorrow, and if I don't do it now, I may spend more time doing it, and even it is likely to cause myself and other people to have bad emotions, so I will finish these things as soon as possible, and then let me have more time to be lazy. But slowly you will find that just doing what you have to do is not enough, because after doing what you should do, there will be other things coming to the door, and many repetitive things need us to spend time doing it over and over again, so we will always think of optimizing some way of doing things, always thinking of fundamentally solving these things that appear over and over again that require more time on my part, that is, everything is because I am lazy, but because this lazy word has done more things than others. I think the underlying logic of laziness is not to do something, or to do less, so that I can have more free time at my disposal, and with this time that I can freely dispose of, I do anything that is my freedom. The reason I'm seen as diligent is because I want more time to be lazy. And for some people, laziness is to be lazy to do anything, even what must be done is too lazy to do, sorry, I think this is not lazy, this is just a simple stupidity (sorry), because many small problems drag will become big problems, things that could have taken a minute to do, dragged to the end may take dozens of minutes to complete, and it is likely that even if the quality is not high, it is more likely that you need to argue with the people around you, more than worth the loss, more waste of time, is this lazy? No! It's just stupid (sorry again).

More results can be derived from this way of thinking, until the concept of selfishness, I finally realized why our fathers always taught us to observe many morals, and our society always demanded that we have many virtues, but in fact, it was only for our better "selfishness"; because in our history, our ancestors realized a very simple truth: only when I am good to others, others will be good to me. So, in the end, it is still for his own good, or the concept of selfishness, just a more intelligent approach, a very simple truth: a person who is simply selfish will eventually find that everyone around him is not good to him, because he himself is not good for others. And people who know how to be good to others, others will also be good to him, and even because of the fountain of water or the saying that people respect me a foot and I respect others, we may gain more than we pay!

Here we can simply divide this type of behavior into three cases.

First, simply being good to oneself and harming the interests of others is self-interest and harming others

Second, while being good to yourself, you are also good to others, that is, self-interest and altruism are win-win

Third, it is not good for oneself, but it is good for others, that is, self-harm and altruism

The first case: simply to be good to ourselves and damage the interests of others, in the end others will be bad to ourselves, and then damage our own interests, in the long run, this is not at all in line with the original intention of being good to ourselves, so this behavior is the same as the simple laziness mentioned earlier, just a manifestation of stupidity.

Obviously, the second case is obviously the best outcome; while being good to yourself, you are good to others, and eventually others will be good to yourself, whether in the short term or in the long run, perfectly fit the definition of being good to yourself.

As for the third case, this belongs to certain people, certain people who have found a mission or belief that is more important than life, and we commonly call this kind of person a hero.

Of course, we can only demand ourselves in such a way that seems to be in the interests of all people, as to whether in the end others will make choices that are beneficial to everyone in the face of the choices in daily life like us, we can't control it, but we don't have to be grumpy about it, our society is still developing, and all mankind is still progressing, which can only show that our whole society still has unsolved problems, and so these problems are gradually solved..... That's it...

So can the world be justified? Sure, this deviates from man's selfish nature, no. I vaguely remember that in the textbooks of that year, if we want to fully realize the fundamental goal of socialism, we must raise people's ideological realm to a certain extent; but what specific things in thinking need to be improved? The book does not say, how should it be improved? It's not said in the book. Now we know that it is enough to redefine something, as Nietzsche said, to understand something. Of course, this is only in theory that it does not seem to conflict with our lives, but whether our social development will eventually be as previously expected is not certain, we can only solve our existing problems step by step, step by step, and move forward with peace of mind, regardless of where his road ahead leads.

Of course, this is only from the objective theory, so it will appear very impersonal. As human beings, there is actually something more important: feelings. This feeling comes from all experiences, from all feelings, from our own thoughts, it is the sublimation of our ideological consciousness, but this feeling is actually in the service of ourselves in the end, why some people will make the decision to sacrifice themselves to save others, because if he can do it but choose not to do it, he may not be able to bear it, he will receive torture of conscience all day long, which is contrary to his principle of doing things, and his inner feelings will be hurt.

A very interesting conclusion can be drawn from the above two questions: if a concept is developed to the extreme, or from another point of view, two concepts that seem obviously contradictory seem to be perfectly unified! Laziness can equal diligence! Selfishness and selflessness can not conflict! Think about how hard work is done to the extreme? They will idle because they have nothing to do, and the purpose of laziness is not to idle? Of course, it seems easier to be lazy than to be diligent to the extreme........... belch.......

Yin and yang? Cathode produces yang, anode produces yin, yin and yang complement each other?

Pisces chart? Black and white opposites, black out of white, white out of black?

Loud sound, elephant invisible? Beauty is beauty, evil is evil. What is good is good, but what is not good?

Is there a phase, difficult and easy to form, long and short phase, high and low phase tilt, sound and sound phase, back and forth?

Do nothing, teach without saying; do not quit, be born without having, do not be ashamed, and live in vain for achievement?

For the sake of the unheard, the cure is not chaotic. The wood of the embrace is born at the end of the millimeter; the platform of the nine floors starts from the tired soil; and the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Whoever loses, the one who persists loses?

....... hiss............ Regarding the concept of selfishness, there seems to be too! The seventh chapter of the Tao Te Ching has clouds: the heavens are long. The heavens and the earth can therefore be long and long, and because they do not give birth to themselves, they can live forever. It is the saint who precedes his body and the body that exists outside. Is it not selfless evil? Therefore, it can be selfish. It has been clearly stated here that the heavens and the earth are long because they are not born for themselves; that the saints always take the lead in the face of things, and put themselves aside, but they can survive forever; because they are selfless, they can achieve their selfishness. And all we have to do is emulate heaven and earth, and it is enough to learn the way the saints do things and think... It turns out that these problems have been solved thousands of years ago, but we have never really understood them. What more can I say? Hahaha, can only sigh a little ignorant! First Gu Cheng is not deceived by me! Lee Old Master 666 (hoarse exhaustion)!

so...... Is this true of all things in the world? Perfect harmony with each other? But there are too many things that we haven't found the right way or the right angle to look at?

If you think about it, whether we are selfish or selfless, in the end, it is all for the sake of achieving ourselves, or our ideas, or our real lives. In the same way, I am writing these things here today, as far as I am concerned, I am just trying to sort out my own thinking by writing these things, so that my theories and ideas can be more harmonious, and I have also summed up myself after so many years of hard thinking, and an explanation to myself who has achieved nothing for so many years; but these things can just help many people, so they are sent out, as to how much help they can ultimately achieve, what effect they can achieve, but it is not something I can control What the world will end up has nothing to do with me. As for that big dream... Life is less than a hundred, and I often have a thousand years of worry; how can I do this dream in the world that countless able people and talents have not been able to complete since ancient times? I was just the son of a farmer who had not even graduated from high school and had died. I just want to do my best to do my own thing for my own selfish purposes, I want to do everything that concerns me; in the end, I can find a confidant, make three or two friends, drink a few small glasses of wine, and watch the sunrise and sunset, rain and snow, and it is enough to wish.

A little more, what do I think is selfishness? Selfishness is not only good for oneself, but more like the Confucian saying that the poor are good at their own, and the poor are good at helping the world, which means to do everything related to themselves, including the responsibilities they have to bear, the obligations they have to fulfill, and not to bring too much trouble and trouble to others. From the perspective of our human society, we have been developing our own science and technology and economy, developing our civilization, all for the survival of our own human beings. But this has led to the continuous deterioration of the natural environment, and because of the continuous deterioration of the environment, we ourselves are increasingly bearing the fruits of our karma: in the short few hundred years since the Industrial Revolution in the West began the vigorous development of industry and science and technology, the natural environment has been declining, the air quality has continued to decline, natural disasters have gradually increased, and infectious viruses have begun to invade our world more and more frequently. If everyone can be alone, the world will naturally benefit. As human beings, we still have a long way to go.
