A few days ago, "Silhouette of the Prosperous World - Du Fu's Commentary" was launched, which is the first academic monograph published by Sichuan University Press after Professor Xiang Yixian, who has worked at Sichuan University for 35 years, published several books. Xiang Xian's text of Du Fu's poems as the first text, supplemented by relevant historical documents and classics and the research results of Du Fu in modern and modern China and abroad, reconstructs the "Du Fu, the greatest poet in China" that we are most familiar with, and may also be the most unfamiliar, -- Du Fu, who has witnessed the glory of the prosperous world and experienced the sufferings of the chaotic world. The whole book is more than 400,000 words, which is supported by serious literature and vivid and clear modern expression, and can be called a unique masterpiece in many of Du Fu's research works.

From the middle and late Tang Dynasties to the Two Song Dynasties, there have been thousands of poems in the tang dynasty. Du Fuxue, who descended from the Song and Yuan dynasties, gradually became a prominent study, and everyone talked about Du, Xuedu, and Yandu. Since modern times, the materials have been abundant, the vision is wide, and the realm of Du Fu's research has been continuously expanded. Wen Yiduo, Liu Wendian, Cen Zhongmian, Feng Zhi, Feng Wenbing, Guo Moruo, Zhu Dongrun, Hong Ye, Yoshikawa Kojiro, Yuwen Soan (Stephen Owen), Ye Jiaying, Chen Yixuan, Mo Lifeng and other people at home and abroad have pushed Du Fu's poetry and life research to an unprecedented height, and the stars are dazzling.

How to maintain your own style or demeanor in the face of these radiant Du Fu research works? This is also one of the most important issues for Xiang Yixian. Since his youth, he has been fanatically obsessed with Du Fu's poetry, and when he was in college, he spent up to two years reciting Du Fu's poetry, and wanted to write about Du Fu in his heart, but he never dared to write easily, "There are too many famous masters who write about Du Fu; and because I love Du Fu, I feel that no matter how I write, I can't reach Du Fu's soul." ”

Now, when "The Silhouette of the Prosperous World - Du Fu's Commentary" was published, Xiang Yixian felt some pressure, he said, "In the face of Du Fu's research by many masters, I still have to write hard, and slowly, I finally found a little self-confidence." As I continued to write, this self-confidence became stronger and stronger, so much so that I had the illusion of arrogance. Looking back, of course, the knowledge of these previous masters was better than mine, but not necessarily I liked Du Fu so much; even if I liked it so much, they were not as lucky as I was, because I could stand on their shoulders, and I could draw essence and energy from their Du Fu research, thus refining the blood and fire of Du Fu that belonged to me. ”

With little talent, insight and deep thinking, Xiang has set a model of a text worth reading carefully for the study of Chinese poetics and the criticism of Chinese literary theory. After reading it, the poet, literary critic and Professor Xie Mian of Peking University said: "Contemporary poets writing the commentaries of the classical poet Du Fu reveal not only the 'silhouette of the prosperous world', but also the most exciting silhouette of Chinese poetics. Professor Shu Dagang, vice president of the International Confucian Federation, executive dean of the Institute of Chinese Culture of Sichuan University and director of the Institute of Ancient Book Collation, believes that this book is "a successful attempt to interpret poetry through time and space through spiritual dialogue and poetry." "Silhouette of the Prosperous World" - a 21st century 'Reading Du Xin Xie', a thousand-year-old school taught poets 'poetry teaching heart transmission'". Mr. Wu Fusheng, a tenured professor of Chinese literature and comparative literature at the University of Utah in the United States, also believes: "Du Fu's poetry has always been called 'poetic history', and literati scholars of all generations have excavated many contents of the history and culture of the Tang Dynasty by virtue of the principles and methods of knowing people and discussing the world. This book shifts the focus to Du Fu himself, and through the analysis of Du Fu's poetry, it reflects the silhouette of the poet's bumpy life. Professor Xiang Yixian's dual identity as a scholar and a poet makes this book both a traditional academic foundation and a deep personal feeling, which is unique in the study of Tang poetry. ”
