author:Observer.com

According to Taiwan media reports, on January 17, Lin Huai, president of the Changsha Association of Taiwan-funded Enterprises, and five other Taiwan businessmen were sentenced by a Taiwan court for "offering bribes to the election." They are accused of hosting a dinner party during Taiwan's 2020 "general election" to help the Kuomintang candidate, former Kaohsiung mayor Han Kuo-yu, vote, but no one pleaded guilty.

In this regard, Han Hanyu's office issued a press release on the 17th to clear the relationship, saying that Han Hanyu was not aware of the content of the dinner activities. The campaign did not provide any funds to Han Hanyu's campaign headquarters, but the relevant reports used headlines such as "Funding Han Hanyu" to innuendo and insulting harm to Han Hanyu.

Some directors of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce believe that the DPP authorities have maliciously pursued and killed Taiwan businessmen and "have no excuse for their crimes." They are worried that if this evil case is opened, the president of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce will endanger themselves in the future and will not dare to carry out any more activities.

The Taiwan court claimed that "5 Taiwan businessmen were involved in bribery and helped Han Hanyu to solicit votes," but no one pleaded guilty

According to the "Central News Agency" reported on the morning of the 17th, the case involved 7 people, no one admitted guilt, and the collegial panel ruled on the same day that He Jianhua, chairman of the "China Women's Federation" and a member of the "China Unification Promotion Party," and Tong Jianhua, vice president of the Changsha Association of Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises, were not guilty. The remaining five include Lin Huai, president of the Changsha Association of Taiwan Compatriots' Investment Enterprises, who was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison and 4 years in prison; Shen Bin, deputy secretary general of the "China Women's Federation," who was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months and 2 years; Jiang Mingxia, president of the "Association of New Families on Both Sides of the Strait," who was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison and 2 years in prison; Zhang Guojun, chairman of the Shaoyang Association of Fellow Villagers in Shaoyang, Hunan Province, who was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months, and 2 years; and Zhuang Huanzhang, a Taiwan businessman, who was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months and 2 years. The case is appealable.

Prosecutors said that on December 11, 2019, Lin Huai and others held the "2019 Hunan Taiwan Compatriots Year-end Tail Tooth Friendship Meeting" and the "Hunan Provincial Taiwan Compatriots Returning Homecoming Voting Conference" at the Huatian Hotel in Changsha, Hunan Province, China, and provided free food and accommodation, as well as a lottery at a high price, and hosted more than 500 Taiwan businessmen and Taiwan students to create momentum for the Chinese Kuomintang and then KMT presidential candidate Han Kuo-yu.

The prosecution claimed that lin huai and others held another "preferential ticket for returning to Taiwan" activity, and the original price of 1560 yuan of air tickets can be reimbursed 1550 yuan. The procuratorate claimed to have found that there were about 200 Taiwan businessmen who returned to Taiwan by plane before the vote, all of whom were suspected of bribery on a long-term offer.

The procuratorate also claimed that Lin Huai and others applied for subsidies of 500,000 yuan and 3 million yuan from the Changsha Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office and the Hunan Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office respectively, and received subsidies of 290,000 yuan and 1.2 million yuan respectively.

On May 8, 2020, Taiwan authorities indicted Lin Huai and seven others.

Lin Huai, a native of Taitung, was restricted from leaving the country due to the impact of the case. However, he still maintained good interaction with Taitung politicians, and on the 13th, he was invited to participate in the Tail Tooth Event held in Taitung County (a folk traditional festival in the southeast coastal area of the mainland).

On January 17, Lin Huai said in an interview with the Central News Agency that he was the president and the leader of the society, and that the association ran tail teeth and other activities, which were purely service-oriented. If the DPP asks him to help organize campaign activities on the mainland, and the mainland allows it, he will also agree to help; tail teeth and lottery (lottery) are all practices in previous years, and in order to maintain its services to Taiwan businessmen, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council will inevitably sponsor some activity funds.

In addition, he also hoped that the prosecution would lift the restriction on him leaving the country.

HanBan: Han Hanyu didn't know

Regarding the matter of "Taiwan businessmen holding dinner parties and helping Han Hanyu to solicit votes," Han Hanyu's office issued a press release on the 17th to clear up the relationship.

Hanban said that Han Yu was not aware of the content of the dinner activities, so he could not comment on the verdict. The Hanban office said that the campaign did not provide any funds to Han Hanyu's campaign headquarters, but the relevant reports did innuendos and insulting harm to Han Hanyu with headlines such as "Funding Han Hanyu".

Han Ban specifically mentioned that the island's judicial unit against Australia Wang Liqiang's "fake co-espionage case", resulting in the Chairman of the China Innovation Investment Corporation XiangXin was accused of violating the "National Security Law", and finally did not prosecute due to insufficient evidence, this case during the 2020 presidential election, in an allusive way to "smear" Han Hanyu, extremely harmful, but now the judicial unit still owes the public an explanation.

And Han Hanyu's voice criticized the case as follows: "Insinuation, many acts of injustice will kill themselves!" ”

"There is no excuse for the crime of wanting to add to it" Taiwan businessmen: Once the evil case is opened, they dare not do any more activities

At present, the All-China Federation of Taiwan Enterprises has not yet formally responded to the "dinner party activity" incident, but some Taiwan chambers of commerce are upset with Lin, believing that the DPP authorities have maliciously pursued and killed Taiwan businessmen and "want to add to the crime and have no excuse for their crimes." They are worried that if this evil case is opened, the president of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce will endanger himself in the future and will not dare to do any more activities.

According to a January 18 report by the China Times, Xu Zhengwen, executive director of the Taiwan Enterprises Federation, said that this was the first case in which a Taiwan businessman was sentenced for "bribery in the election of a futures contract," but he could not understand why the crime could be established. He held that the nature of the mainland's Taiwan Affairs Office in providing subsidies is to encourage Taiwan businessmen to return to Taiwan to vote, and it does not restrict who Taiwan businessmen must vote for. "The judge's judgment is too pertinent and has been infinitely outlined."

Xu Zhengwen was worried that Lin Huai and other Taiwan businessmen had been convicted, and the president of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce would not dare to hold any more activities in the future, because if there were subsidies and sponsorships from the mainland in the activity funds, "I don't know if I will be caught with any handles?" Will I be checked for water meters when I return to Taiwan? Will it be your turn to be the next one to be repaired? ”

A heavyweight Taiwan chamber of commerce in East China questioned whether the Taiwan Affairs Office did not fully bear the cost of air tickets, but only subsidized part of the funds, and who to vote for after Taiwan businessmen flew back to Taiwan, there was no compulsory binding force, "Convicting Lin Huai and others with the charge of 'bribery of the appointment' is simply a big fool in the world." ”

The taiwan chamber of commerce president bitterly criticized that if it is to be compared with the "election of the deadline," the Tsai Ing-wen authorities have repeatedly written cheques and thrown big money everywhere before the election, "Why can the DPP buy tickets by policy, and the president of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce can subsidize air tickets to encourage Taiwan businessmen to return to Taiwan to vote?" Is this not clear, only the governor is allowed to set fires, and the people are not allowed to light lamps? ”

In response to the DPP authorities' indictment of Lin Huai, president of the ChangshaTai Association, and seven others, Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on May 9, 2020, that what the DPP authorities have done is not surprising, and that the essence is to undermine cross-strait relations and endanger the interests of Taiwan compatriots. In recent times, the despicable acts of the DPP authorities have been escalating. In order to seek the selfish interests of one party, they fabricate all kinds of crimes to punish Taiwan businessmen and Taiwan compatriots on the mainland, and use all kinds of groundless excuses to suppress Taiwan groups and personalities participating in cross-strait exchanges and cooperation. As long as the position they hold is different from that of the DPP authorities, they will be suppressed overwhelmingly, creating "green terror" and causing everyone on the island to endanger themselves.

On the same day, the Taiwan Affairs Office of Hunan Province also issued a three-point statement on May 9, 2020, criticizing the DPP authorities for completely disregarding the facts and being naked political manipulation, the purpose of which is to engage in "green terrorism," further obstruct and undermine cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, and harm the rights and interests of the vast number of Taiwan businessmen and Taiwan compatriots.

The statement said that on that day, the Changsha Municipal Taiwan Association held an annual tail tooth activity, which was completely organized by the Changsha Municipal Taiwan Association itself, and the provincial and municipal Taiwan Affairs Office did not participate at all. The DPP authorities' speculation about the provincial and municipal Taiwan Affairs Offices funding the mobilization of Taiwan businessmen to vote back to Taiwan is pure fabrication. As for the so-called "in accordance with the spirit of the provincial and municipal Taiwan Affairs Offices," it is even more completely distorted and deliberately seeking fault. On the eve of the two elections on the island at the end of last year, due to the manipulation of the DPP authorities, it was difficult for Taiwan compatriots to obtain a single ticket to return to Taiwan. At the request of the vast number of Taiwan compatriots, the provincial and municipal Taiwan Affairs Offices have actively helped the Taiwan Association to contact flights, coordinated with airlines to provide convenience and preferential treatment, and helped Taiwan compatriots to solve their worries and difficulties.

The statement accused the DPP authorities of taking advantage of the opportunity to hype up this matter with their ulterior political intentions, which further exposed the sinister intentions of the DPP authorities.
