Gao Lingya: Crow

Crows are not good birds in people's hearts. So, when they met it, everyone instinctively spit into the ground, "Oh, oh, huh..." a few times to show hiccups. The crows under the world are as black as the mouths of the people.

Many years ago, two crows flew from the village of Lao Huai and made a nest on an old locust tree at the intersection of the west road of the village, and lived here for a long time. There is an old locust tree at the west entrance of the old locust village. This tree is very old, let alone two or three hundred years old. The trunk is very thick, scarred, and mottled, which shows the vicissitudes. For so many years, I don't know how much rain, snow, wind, frost, thunder and lightning I have experienced. It was fortunate to live and guard this ancient village.

All year round, the old people in the village like to gossip under it, and the children like to climb on its branches and play. In spring and summer, it has become a paradise for birds.

The village is not large, and more than a dozen families live by farming and fishing. The house is roofed with grass, mud and stone walls. In front of the house and behind the house are mountains and trees. The roads in the village are winding, narrow and potholed. There is a small river in front of the village, and there is barren land along the river, and the villagers live by growing crops. This is a mountain village, it is almost isolated from the outside world, rush back to the market town, let alone walk thirty miles, but also over the mountains, crossing the boat for more than half an hour.

No one can say exactly when the village was founded, but the people here have lived here for generations. They are at a loss for the outside world and don't seem to care. Birth, old age, illness and death, raising children, and multiplying and living, this is their most simple ideological realm.

At first, they didn't seem to be very welcoming to the arrival of the crows, but they weren't very annoying either. These two crows, which have multiplied over the years, have a large family. Later, they actually became a group and flew around the village.

The crow is pitch black and likes to chirp. Whoever has a big or small affair in the village gathers on the tree or roof in front of the house, and they join in the bustle, and the enthusiasm seems to be excessive. Crows are not auspicious birds in everyone's hearts. As a result, the villagers are very disgusted, especially when people encounter bad things.

Children are mischievous and will climb trees to pound their nests and grab their eggs and cubs. Crows are aggressive and become hostile when they find someone destroying their homeland.

But after all, the crow has been with the villagers for many years. We are at peace with each other and do not invade each other. As for the mischievous children's actions, they are often punished by the elderly.

Crows, whether there is prophetic foresight or not, we have no way of knowing. However, some believe that its "call" is a precursor to what is going to happen. It's also hard to say. Animals have animal instincts, and their "super-inspiration" may have. Let's just say that the dog, lying on the ground, will hear the vibrations of the old and the distant. That year, the Indonesian tsunami, many elephants locked in the circle broke free of their chains and fled to the heights en masse... The crow's cry will make people's hearts frightened, happy, sad, and make people panic.

That summer, it rained for many days in a row, and the river in front of the village also flooded the fields. Floods are about to break out in mountain villages. Fortunately, the village is built on a high place, leaning on the mountain behind it, and the water cannot flood the house. The villagers lived with trepidation.

These days, lightning and thunder, wind and rain come and go. The little village is not at peace. The rain drenched the crow's nest, and the crows hid in the nest, and they rarely found food.

At night, it was pitch black. The roads are muddy and the river is rushing. The waterfall in the valley was stirring and rumbling. The old and young masters of the old huaizhuang fell asleep early as usual. In the middle of the night, the dogs in the village suddenly barked wildly, and the chickens flew around in the nest in terror. The crows in the village are constantly noisy, east or west, far or near. The villagers felt abnormal and went out one after another. They were amazed by what they saw. The crows were black and crushed, and some of them fell on the roofs, on the haystacks, on the tops of the trees, which was frightening. Then they heard a rumbling sound behind the mountain, muffled and terrifying.

"After the mountain collapsed, after the mountain collapsed..." Suddenly someone exclaimed. Mudslides are rushing from behind the mountains, like crazy beasts. Escape, this is the first reaction of the villagers. So the villagers desperately ran to the mountain.

The next day, the sun came out and the village that had experienced the disaster subsided. The village of Lao Huai has been buried in the silt.

In the mud, there were also crow feathers and mutilated corpses.

The old locust tree is still there, but the old locust village is gone...
