The story of Chang'e Running Moon believes that no one is unaware. Because, every august 15th can have a mooncake to eat thanks to her!
The original form of Chang'e first evolved from the myth of the Classic of Mountains and Seas, at that time, there were many versions of the name Chang'e in ancient books, such as: E, Chang'e, Changyi, Changxi, Shangyi, Heng'e and so on. It was not until the Time of the Eastern Han Dynasty that this story began to take shape!
However, many people do not know where the story of Chang'e Running Moon comes from! In other words, where does the myth of the Classic of Mountains and Seas come from?
Most likely from Guiping! Because Guiping also has a different version of the "Chang'e Running Moon" story.
Many people have doubts, in the pre-Qin period, Guiping belonged to the southern barbarian land of the four tribes outside the Huaxia tribe (namely, Donghu, Xirong, Nanman, and Northern Di), which had not yet been civilized, how could there be such a story?
In fact, at that time, Guiping belonged to the Baiyue cultural circle, and there was already a high degree of civilization in the pre-Qin period! For example, pottery culture, copper drum culture and so on! Even at the intersection of Xixunzhou High School in Guiping City, there are still ruins. All this proves that Guiping is not without a civilized land.
So, what does this have to do with Chang'e Running Moon?
First of all, from Chang'e's name. "E" means beautiful woman. In the past, there were many women in Guiping in life with a "E" in their names, familiar people generally called her "A'e", and her parents generally called her "E-Nü". But in the north there were fewer (of course, more later).
Secondly, from the perspective of climate, Guangxi is hot, the water vapor is large, the miasma is raging, and people's lives are difficult, and there is a saying that it is summer at four o'clock. There is no feeling of winter, and the feeling of the sun and moon is more profound. People's ignorance of nature, the creation of a god to send people good wishes for the conquest of nature, is very normal.
"Constant I am in the moon, for the toad." This "toad" is still read in Guiping's accent. However, in Guiping's version of the "Chang'e Running Moon" story, this "toad" refers to a toad!
In ancient times, toad was a mascot, and unlike now, it became a derogatory term. On some copper drums unearthed in Guangxi, there are also the shapes and patterns of the image of the toad. It is also one of the totems of the Baiyue nation!
In Guiping's story, Chang'e is called Ah'e! What is the specific story, Ah Wei just remembers a rough idea, anyway, it is related to the laurel tree, and it is simple to say:
"E dedicate herself to the moon, pluck jade and gui, send the toad and return it,"
In ancient times, there was a tribe near the shore of present-day Guiping (Yujiang), and people lived by hunting and fishing. The weather here is hot, there are many beasts around, and the miasma is full of miasma in the deep forest, and the land is often flooded, so the people in the tribe have a comfortable life, and many people are sick and dying.
Ah E is the leader of the tribe (matriarchal society), she saw that the clan was sick, took a lot of herbs back, mashed them for the tribesmen to drink, and the effect was not great. Therefore, she raised an altar to sacrifice, prayed for God's blessing, and asked God to point out a way and a way to live. God told her to go to the Moon Palace, where there is an immortal laurel tree, and only one branch of the laurel tree is asked to be planted in the tribe. It is not possible to save the people of the tribe.
[Because the leaves of the laurel tree have a magical effect.] In addition to expelling miasma, it can also rejuvenate people (some exaggeration, but the anti-aging effect is still very good)]
However, it is easy to go to the Moon Palace, but it is not easy to pick the branches and leaves of the laurel tree, because the laurel tree is very sensitive, and if it is cut, it will not survive. It cannot be picked until it blooms, and the heavens have a time limit, and after the time, it cannot return to the human world. Ah E's heart had been decided, so she explained the tribal affairs well, took the beloved little white rabbit, and rode the toad to the Moon Palace.
She lived in the Moon Palace, and finally waited until the laurel tree was paralyzed, carefully cutting the laurel branches, but delaying the time to come back, only the toad returned with the laurel branches, while Ah E stayed in the sky and could never come back. People planted the branches of the laurel tree on the ground, and after many years, they gradually opened their branches and leaves, becoming a laurel forest.
Since the day of her ascension to heaven was the night of the full moon on the fifteenth of August, every year on this day, the tribesmen would sacrifice her to commemorate it, and put her favorite sugar cake on the offering table. Slowly it became a custom.
This story does not have Hou Yi, that is, her husband, and there is no elixir, but instead goes to ask for the elixir (laurel tree). At that time, Lingnan and the Central Plains were not completely separated, and the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" was also drawn from the myths and legends of the world.
As for whether this mythical story was passed out from Guiping, this is not easy to say, anyway, in Guiping's Mengwei, in ancient times, it was indeed a forest of laurel trees.
