On Thursday, militants stormed a high school. One witness said the gunmen had asked teachers to show their IDs before firing on them. Dilbag Singh, the local police chief, said the killing was an attempt to bribe local Muslims. "The killing of innocent civilians, including teachers, is an act of attack and disruption of harmony in the Kashmiri community, and the police have some clues about the killer in previous cases and will soon arrest the killer," Singh said. ”

Three people were killed in another shooting in Srinagar, the capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, on Tuesday. The victims were identified as a taxi driver, a street food vendor and a well-known chemist, Makhan Lal Bindroo, a Hindu.
British media said that such targeted killings in the region are not uncommon. Indian-controlled Kashmir is considered the most militarized region in the world, with many sporadic militant attacks on security forces since the 1990s. Previously, members of local local political parties had been targeted. The recent killings have been widely condemned by local leaders and politicians across India.
The Resistance Front, part of the Indian terrorist group Laskhar-e-Taiba, is believed to have claimed responsibility for some of the recent killings. According to Indian government data, 25 civilians have been killed in the Kashmir Valley so far this year, compared with 20 Members of the Indian Security Forces during the same period. Throughout 2020, 33 civilians and 47 security forces were killed in attacks in Indian-controlled Kashmir. (Editor: SDY)
