Beijing, January 17 (China News Network) -- A complete set of 35 volumes of calligraphy from the Jin, Tang, Song, Yuanming to Qing dynasties, the Imperial Emperor's tome, "The Collection of the Palace Museum, And The Compilation of Calligraphy" was released on the 17th.

Known as the "Forbidden City on Paper", the "Collection Department of the Palace Museum" has published more than 100 volumes such as painting compilation, calligraphy compilation, sculpture compilation, jade compilation, and rare book special collection. The Collection of the Palace Museum and the Compilation of Calligraphy (hereinafter referred to as the "Calligraphy Compilation") began with the publication of the first volume in 2012 and lasted 10 years from the end of 2021, and finally ended with a complete set of 35 volumes of calligraphy from the Jin, Tang, Song, Yuanming to Qing Dynasties. This is a huge production of the results of the cultural relics inventory of the Palace Museum, and it is also the most complete masterpiece of calligraphy and cultural relics in the courtyard at present, which has added important information to the academic research of Chinese calligraphy and the study of famous artists.

The "Palace Museum Collection, Calligraphy Compilation, Qing Dynasty Volume" released in Beijing on the 17th is the final work of the "Calligraphy Compilation" series. A total of 15 volumes, the "Qing Dynasty Volumes" selects the calligraphy works of more than 1,400 calligraphers in the Qing Dynasty, and is a huge production completed by the Beijing Publishing Group and the Palace Publishing House in five years.

The Palace Museum's collection of Qing Dynasty calligraphy works is very large, and the Qing Dynasty Volumes have selected and included representative works from different periods, including the authentic works of the Empress, the Hanbao of the Guanchen and the calligrapher's remains, with the purpose of displaying all the works of calligraphers in the Forbidden City; among them, there are also a large number of unpublished works of calligraphers, which are displayed in the whole volume.

The Qing Dynasty was an important period in the history of mainland calligraphy, known as "Calligraphy in Zhongxing". The Qing Dynasty completed the transformation and maturity from "theology" to "epigraphy", creating many personality and innovative calligraphers and genres, the style of writing covers the truth, grass, affiliation, seal, the form of codex, albums, hand scrolls, banners, couplets, stickers, etc., can be described as colorful. This volume comprehensively presents the grand scene of Hanmo in the Qing Dynasty, presents for the first time the collection of the Palace Museum involving many famous, diverse faces, strong sense of the times, and distinctive styles of Qing Dynasty calligraphy works, provides the public with an authoritative catalog and pictures of the Qing Dynasty calligraphy Palace Collection, and is a rare compilation of physical materials on the history of Chinese calligraphy, with important research, appreciation and learning value.

Wang Xudong, a member of the party group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and president of the Palace Museum, said that the Forbidden City and its collection of various cultural relics carry the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Generation after generation of Forbidden City scholars have devoted themselves to excavating and interpreting the diverse values of these precious cultural relics, and through the hard work of colleagues in the publishing industry, they can finally present them to the public in a series of publications. After ten years of continuous efforts, the "Palace Museum Collection Department and Calligraphy Compilation" has come to a perfect end, which is a phased summary of the cultural relics inventory of the Palace Museum for decades, and is also the embodiment of the Palace Museum's excellent tradition of advocating academic research and attaching importance to cultural dissemination. The Palace Museum will continue to increase the construction of the "Peaceful Forbidden City, Academic Forbidden City, Digital Forbidden City and Dynamic Forbidden City", and continuously launch various cultural products based on academic research, so that cultural relics can truly "live" and make greater contributions to the prosperity of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.
