Dialogue between the academic community and the industry into the parallel world of the metaverse

Recently, the School of Management of Fudan University 2022 "See" | The first lecture of the dialogue on science and technology innovation figures was held at the beginning of the year. With the theme of "'Zhuang Zhou' and 'Dream Butterfly':Entering the Parallel World of the Metaverse", the forum invited Xu Zhengchuan, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Management and Business Intelligence, School of Management, Fudan University, Yan Feng, Professor of the Department of Chinese of Fudan University, Chen Li, founder and CEO of Zhongmo Information Technology, and Xie Hao, founder and CEO of Yuanyi Imagination, to bring a multi-dimensional interpretation of the metaverse from different perspectives.

Xu Zhengchuan delivered a speech entitled "The Metacosm of Human Beings". He believes that the industrial metacosm precedes the consumption metacosm, and the positive and negative tendencies of the metacosm depend on humans, "the complete metacosm contains seven elements: the earth, that is, the cloud space, computing power; the door, that is, the way into the metaverse, such as VR, AR, etc.; the root, that is, the virtual person, the digital person; the sky, that is, the creation and creativity of the virtual person in the cloud space, which constitutes the digital product, the voice end and the creative work; the sea, that is, the IoT + data-driven + AI, the virtual people form a connection between them, and the data is generated after social activities, and the data is retained. Forming a huge sea of data can drive AI; treasure, that is, the financial system; and path, that is, digital twin. ”

For the development of the future metacosmology, Xu Zhengchuan pointed out that from a technical point of view, the metacosm is the inevitable result of the gradual development and aggregation of digital technologies such as AI, blockchain, cloud computing, data twins, and virtual engines. From the social level, the metacosm will further reduce the creative cost and creative threshold of ordinary users, improve the degree of creative freedom, stimulate the public's enthusiasm for creation, further release productivity and creativity, and build the next step of network society. From the investment level, digital people, cloud computing, as well as digital content, social industry, collaboration tools, etc. are his optimistic tracks, and the industrial metacosm is likely to achieve commercial success before the consumer metacosm.

For the future of the meta-universe, Professor Yan Feng is optimistic. He believes that the metacosm has its origins in human nature, is supported by modern technology, and is in line with the path of civilization evolution and dimensionality. With the continuous deepening of the complementarity and integration of reality and virtual, the metaverse will bring a new world of the future that integrates life, art, technology and games.

Chen Li pointed out that for consumption, the future of the metacosm will be an explosive phenomenon, and for the industry, it is more inclined to a continuous development. On the one hand, Xie Hao agrees that virtual conferences will be the future trend, and the metacosm will further improve the communication experience of users, on the other hand, the creative means, techniques and narrative methods of practitioners will affect the shaping of the metacosm.

Xu Zhengchuan concluded that in the end, which direction the metaverse develops depends on people themselves, "erudite and dedicated, asking for close thoughts", which is the best way to deal with the metacosm.
