Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk recently said that 1469 Starlink satellites are now active, of which 272 are currently in orbit. He added: "Starlink will be launched soon".

In July 2021, Musk said that because the speed of light in a vacuum is faster and the path is shorter than that of submarine fibers, laser links on orbit can reduce long-distance delays by 50 percent. The company's goal is to launch 42,000 satellites and establish a space-based communication system covering the whole world.

Since SpaceX began service in October 2020 and until November 2021, Starlink has been running in 12 countries and is expanding, adding approximately 11,000 users per month. According to a recent report, SpaceX's satellite Internet division currently has more than 1,45,000 users in 25 countries around the world. Last year, Musk said at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) conference that Starlink should have about 500,000 users in the next 12 months.

Starlink recently shipped 100,000 terminals to customers. If all goes well, StarLink will provide low-cost Internet connectivity services around the world.

Previously, the international astronomical community has been concerned that the huge number of Internet satellites may affect astronomical observations and there is a risk of collision with spacecraft. In response to the remarks, Musk said that the "starlink" has no impact on space security, his reason is that there may be "tens of billions" of spacecraft in low-Earth orbit. At present, Starlink has only launched more than 2,000 of them, and the total capacity from space is not worth mentioning at all.
