There is a hidden danger of loose fuel tank sensors, and some Mercedes-Benz GLE SUVs will be recalled

Blue Whale Automobile, January 17, according to the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, some Mercedes-Benz GLESUV due to the vehicle fuel tank pressure sensor fixed clip does not meet the requirements of corrosion resistance, resulting in fuel tank pressure sensor may be loosened due to vibration during the vehicle driving process, extreme cases may affect the sealing of the fuel tank, there are safety hazards. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automotive Sales Co., Ltd. has decided to recall a total of 639 GLESUV units with production dates from February 17, 2020 to December 19, 2020, effective February 11.

The reason for this recall is that the fixing clip of the vehicle's fuel tank pressure sensor does not meet the requirements for corrosion resistance. After the long-term use of the vehicle, the fixing clip may weaken the fixing force due to corrosion, resulting in the fuel tank pressure sensor may be loosened due to vibration during the driving process of the vehicle, and in extreme cases, the sealing of the fuel tank may be affected, which in turn will not meet the requirements of the relevant laws and regulations on the sealing of the motor vehicle fuel system, and there are safety hazards and unreasonable emission risks.

After the recall, Mercedes-Benz will replace the fuel tank pressure sensor fixing clip free of charge for vehicles within the scope of the recall to eliminate safety hazards and unreasonable emission risks.

It is worth mentioning that in 2021, Mercedes-Benz will once again become the "king of recall". According to the auto recall statistics released by the State Administration for Market Regulation in 2021, a total of 44 brands in China's domestic passenger car market issued 155 recalls in 2021, with a total of 8.73 million passenger cars recalled, an increase of 31.88% over 2020. Among them, Mercedes-Benz recalled a total of 2.78 million vehicles in 2021, ranking first in the recall list, equivalent to more than twice toyota's annual recall.

According to Mercedes-Benz's 2021 delivery data, Mercedes-Benz delivered more than 2.4 million new vehicles in the global market last year, of which 759,000 units were sold in the Chinese market. Mercedes-Benz's recalls in the Chinese market are 3.6 times that of sales.
