On February 10, 1951, the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Battalion, 3nd Regiment, 342nd Regiment, 114th Division, 38th Army, Volunteer Army, was ordered by superiors to hold on to the 350.3 heights to block the attack of the US 1st Cavalry Division and cut off their route north into Seoul.
At dawn on February 13, the U.S. army did indeed attack, and they launched an onslaught on Hill 350.3 from three different directions.
They still resorted to their usual tactics, first of all, using aircraft and artillery to indiscriminately bombard the volunteer positions. The dense shells poured down, almost cutting off the entire mountain, and it was completely unrecognizable.
Subsequently, the U.S. army sent a team of infantry to attack the volunteer positions. The soldiers seemed to be fighting the volunteers for the first time, and they were somewhat proud of the idea that the powerful artillery fire had defeated their opponents.

Unexpectedly, the volunteers, taking advantage of the terrain, suddenly jumped up from the broken tunnel and fired fiercely at this group of American troops, killing most of them. An officer walking at the back saw that the situation was not good, and just planned to escape, but was easily killed by a point shot by the sharpshooter Mo Zhengtang.
After a while, the U.S. army sent another platoon of troops to pounce on it.
Seeing that the enemy formation was relatively dense, the warrior Fu Guoliang immediately aimed his 60 cannon at them and fired three shells in a row, causing the enemy to cry wolf and howl, and only half of them escaped by chance.
Immediately afterward, the US army launched the third and fourth consecutive attacks, and although the number of troops dispatched was more and more than the first, it was still unable to attack the positions of the three companies of the volunteer army.
The enemy commander saw that he could not attack repeatedly, and he was furious and thunderous, and once again used the means of firepower to attack. This time, they intensified their efforts, dispatching 40 artillery pieces, 52 tanks, and 24 aircraft, and dropping countless incendiary bombs and shells on the Volunteer positions.
Under this frenzied bombardment, the already devastated volunteer positions were even more disgraceful, and many soldiers died heroically in the artillery fire.
After the shelling, the black-pressed American troops launched a large-scale attack and pounced on the positions of the three companies.
Faced with a well-equipped enemy with absolute superiority in troops, the commanders and fighters of the three companies fought with the enemy and took up the weapons in their hands to fight back.
Second Squad Leader Shen Desi was hit in the right eye by shrapnel and still insisted on hitting the enemy in his position. His comrades wanted to carry him down, but Shen Desi resolutely disagreed, saying that he could aim with his left eye.
In the ensuing battle, Shen Desi was wounded in many places on his left leg and right arm, but he refused to withdraw, but instead said to his comrades-in-arms: "As long as the enemy dares to approach me, even if I bite with my teeth, I will bite a few!" ”
The young Sun Dianjin was a hygienist who was hit in the abdomen by an enemy bullet while rescuing his comrades in the position, and his intestines spilled out of his abdominal cavity.
Because there were too many wounded warriors, only the last first aid kit was left, but Sun Dianjin did not hesitate to use it on the warrior Wang Qichun, and also comforted him: "Your marksmanship is good, you can kill a few more enemies, and the effect is greater than mine!" ”
The fighting spirit of Shen Desi, Sun Dianjin and others inspired their comrades-in-arms, who were like fierce tigers who were only provoked, and tried their best to resist the enemy.
Fu Guoliang inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy with a 60 cannon, playing an extremely crucial role in repelling the enemy's first five shocks. This made the enemy commander hate him to the bone, and even ordered two cannons to bombard Fu Guoliang's position.
Fu Guoliang was happy instead: "Lao Tzu will play with you, play a different place!" This trick worked, and the enemy's shells never hit him. Until the barrel was red and his hands were burned, he continued to bombard the enemy.
After repelling the sixth attack of the US army, only company commander Zhao Lianshan and third platoon commander Liu Zhanqing were able to continue fighting in the entire three-company position, and there was very little ammunition left, only one grenade and seven bullets.
The U.S. army did not rest for them for long, and sent dozens of people to launch a seventh onslaught.
Zhao Lianshan not only had good marksmanship, but also fought flexibly and skillfully, and his seven bullets did not waste a single round, and were "rewarded" to seven different enemies respectively.
Liu Zhanqing's grenade also opened fire in the enemy group and blew up a piece.
At this time, the two of them had completely fallen into the desperate situation of running out of ammunition, and what should they do if they put a lot of pressure on the enemy?
The two battle-hardened company cadres were not afraid, pretended to command their teammates to prepare to launch a counterattack, and turned around and shouted slogans such as "Comrades, all ready" and "Kill the enemy all.".
The American troops were frightened by this roar, after all, they could not understand the reality of the volunteers, and the few soldiers who rushed in front hesitated and flinched.
In the face of the two volunteer soldiers who had run out of ammunition, as long as the US army resolutely pressed on, it was completely possible to take the 350.3 heights in one fell swoop.
At this moment, there was a scene on the battlefield that surprised everyone - a dumb grenade left on the position was inadvertently stepped on by an American soldier and suddenly exploded!
What's even more amazing is that this grenade is right in the middle of a group of American troops, and it instantly blew up all four American troops!
This fortuitous factor changed the situation on the battlefield. Although it is not unusual for duds to be detonated on the battlefield, the timing of this situation is too coincidental, just after the pretend command of two volunteers and the roar of the rush to kill, the resulting superposition effect makes the US army mistakenly think that all this was arranged in advance.
The hesitant U.S. troops were so frightened by the sudden explosion that they gave up the idea of continuing to attack upwards. There was an American soldier who had probably never seen this position before, and was so frightened that he turned his head and ran.
This run was out of control, and the American troops behind them all rushed to flee down the hill. Liu Zhanqing wielded a shovel, and Zhao Lianshan lifted the stone, losing no time in a brave pursuit. While chasing, he picked up the enemy's guns thrown on the ground and fired at the fleeing enemy, causing them to scream and scream.
After the first group of fleeing American troops rushed down the mountain, they could not stop the car at all, and not only scattered their own formation, but also frightened the US troops who were originally in reserve at the bottom of the mountain to follow the head rats. They were all frightened, they couldn't figure out what the situation was, they just knew how to run away.
A battalion of the US Cavalry Division, known as the "Ace Force", actually ushered in a fiasco in such a comical way, and more than 270 American troops were buried on The 350.3 Heights.
When the first battalion and two companies of the Volunteer Army came to reinforcements, they were surprised that the commanders and fighters of the three companies could hold the 350.3 heights under such difficult conditions. Zhao Lianshan and Liu Zhanqing could not believe until the end of the battle that they had repelled the US army in such an inexplicable way.
In recognition of the three companies, the headquarters of the Volunteer Army awarded them the first class of collective merit, and awarded them the pennant of "being able to attack and defend the steel three companies".
Wang Qichun and Fu Guochun, who died heroically in this battle, were posthumously awarded the honorary title of "Second Class Combat Hero".
Zhao Lianshan and Liu Zhanqing, who still held their positions despite the desperate situation of running out of ammunition and leaving only two people, were also honored with first-class merit.
