At the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics, the Chinese figure skating team won 2 pair skating, 1 men's singles, 1 women's singles, and 1 ice dance with a total of 5 seats.
Prior to this, Sui Wenjing/Han Cong, Peng Cheng/Jin Yang, and Wang Shiyue/Liu Xinyu had already qualified for the Beijing Winter Olympics for pair skating and ice dance, and one seat for each men's and women's single skaters would be selected through the audition.
According to the selection rules of the Winter Games Center of the State General Administration of Sport, 3 athletes from each of the men's and women's singles will be qualified for the selection competition, the men's singles are Jin Boyang, Yan Han and Chen Yudong, and the women's singles are Zhu Yi, Chen Hongyi and Lin Shan.
Starting from December 16, 2021, the 3 trials and 5 trials lasted for one month.
According to the selection rules, the best results of 4 of the 5 selection matches in the 3 stations of the athletes are added up to the final result, and the first place of men and women will be qualified for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
In the men's singles, Yan Han, who qualified for the selection competition, did not participate. In the end, Jin Boyang beat Chen Yudong's 914.15 points with a total of 1074.89 points to get the men's singles quota.
Jin Boyang is currently the most difficult player in China's men's singles overall, and won the 4th place at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. However, during the Beijing Winter Olympics cycle, Jin Boyang's state fluctuated greatly.
In the women's singles, the match between Zhu Yi, Chen Hongyi and Lin Shan lasted until the last game.
Lin Shan, who had previously led the points, made a serious mistake in the last free skating stop, and finally ranked third with 716.68 points, Zhu Yi won the first place in the selection competition with 732.60 points, and Chen Hongyi ranked second with 724.64 points.
Zhu Yi, 19, is China's first naturalized figure skater and began representing China in 2019. This season, only Zhu Yi has participated in international competitions among the three Chinese women's singles players.
At the Asian Figure Skating Open last October, Zhu Yi finished 7th. In the Italian leg of the Grand Prix, Zhu Yi ranked 9th, and the overall result of 171.25 points also set a new personal best.
At last year's Figure Skating World Championships, Chen Hongyi finished 21st and won a women's singles spot for the Chinese team at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
