On December 11, the Winter Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sport announced the "Measures for the Selection of Athletes of the Beijing Winter Olympics in Figure Skating Singles", and six team members, including Jin Boyang and Zhu Yi, will compete for a winter Olympic seat in the men's singles and women's singles through 3 stations and 5 selection matches. At the same time as announcing the selection method for single skating, two pairs of duo Sui Wenjing/Han Cong, Peng Cheng/Jin Yang and a pair of ice dance duos Wang Shiyue/Liu Xinyu were also identified as Winter Olympic participants.
After the beijing winter olympics of figure skating held in Germany in September this year, all the places for figure skating were finalized. In the 4 individual events, the Chinese team won two pair skating seats, and the remaining 3 individual events won one seat each. According to the requirements of the Figure Skating Qualification System for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, athletes are required to achieve the minimum total technical score applicable to the current or previous season's ISU Championships in international competitions recognized by the Islamic Youth Federation Championships or the International Skating Federation. At present, the men's single skaters who meet this condition are Jin Boyang, Yan Han and Chen Yudong, and the women's single skaters are Chen Hongyi, Zhu Yi and Lin Shan.

According to the single skating selection method announced this time, the Olympic selection competition has a total of 3 stations and 5 points competitions, which are ranked according to the sum of the 4 better results in these 3 stations and 5 games. Finally, the candidates for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games were selected according to the ranking of points. The trials will take place from 16 December 2021 to 22 January 2022. The first two races will be held in Beijing Shougang Park, with the first race taking place from December 16 to 18 and the second two races between December 30 and January 1, 2022. The two matches of the third leg will take place at the Capital Stadium from 20 to 22 January 2022.
The selection method also points out that: in line with the principle of seeking truth from facts, in view of the fact that pair skaters Sui Wenjing/Han Cong, Peng Cheng/Jin Yang won the first and second places in the Italian stage of the ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix this season, they were determined to be participants in the Winter Olympics; ice dancers Wang Shiyue/Liu Xinyu achieved good results in Italy and were also determined to be participants in the Winter Olympics. In the following auditions, pair skating and ice dancing will be participated as tests.
