Tongmuling is located in Baiyinhu Village, north of Ciping, Jinggang Mountain, the mountain is lined with tung trees, and every year when the tung blossoms bloom, the flowers bloom all over the mountain, hence the name. Tongmuling Outpost was built in April 1928 and is one of the five major sentinels in Jinggangshan.
If tourists walk from Jinggangshan City to ciping scenic spot, when they arrive at Baiyinhu Village, they will see a statue of "Jinggang Little Sentinel" on the right side of the road, and on the left side of the road, there is a cemented mountain road, leading to the Tongmuling outpost.
The mountain road is quiet, and from time to time you can see tall ancient trees on the side of the road and stones engraved with chairman Mao's famous poems. After walking about four or five miles, we arrived at the Tongmuling outpost at the top of the mountain.
A pavilion surrounded on all sides stands in front of you, and the pavilion has two doors that can be closed, and the words "Tongmuling Sentinel" are written on the door. Inside the pavilion, on top of the pavilion is a red five-star, on the side is a beautiful and elegant hollow window, under the window set up a connected chair for visitors to rest. Unlike many pavilions, which can only prevent light rain but not heavy rain, the eaves of this pavilion are relatively wide, so even if it rains heavily, you can safely avoid and enjoy the rain in the pavilion.
To the left of the pavilion is a monument to Mao Zedong's poetry. The stele is 83 meters long and 4.1 meters high, and is engraved with 73 poems of Mao Zedong and appendices. Every number is quite elaborate. This is currently the largest single Mao Zedong poetry stele in China. The poem stele was written by Mr. Zhang Zhihe, a famous calligrapher and professor at the National School of Administration. The calligraphy of the dragon flying phoenix dance is good, but it is more difficult for ordinary people to recognize. These poems are written in upright letters, which is just an opportunity for people to study and appreciate Chairman Mao's poems.
The hillside to the right of the pavilion preserves the trenches of the Red Army. The trenches brought people into the war-torn years of that year. The Tongmuling Outpost was built in April 1928 with a general outpost (here the main outpost) and three sub-outposts. At that time, a song described this post: "The mountains and mountains are closely connected, the tongmu ridge is sharp and sharp, and the Red Army post guards the top of the mountain, like an iron fortress." Kanbei (referring to the area around Nashan Mountain under the mountain) came up to The Tongmu Pass, and the sentry on the pass was well done, and it was 2,600 steps high, and the white bandits had nowhere to escape. In mid-January 1929, the Kuomintang troops in the two provinces of Xianggan and Gansu mobilized 18 regiments of troops to launch the third military "meeting" on Jinggangshan, and the enemy army gathered under Jinggangshan and blocked various intersections layer by layer. At that time, the troops guarding the Tongmuling outpost were the Eighth Brigade, the Ninth Brigade of the Fourth Column of the Fifth Red Army, and the Thirty-second Regiment of the Red Fourth Army, commanded by the column commander He Guozhong. Song Renqian also participated in the defense of Tongmuling. At that time, there was heavy snow in the sky and wind and snow on the mountains, and the enemy opened the way with artillery and machine guns in a vain attempt to capture the sentry, but each attack was repelled by the heroic Red Army. The Red Army held out its post position day and night, hungry to eat a handful of fried rice, thirsty to bite a mouthful of snow balls. On January 29, because the Huangyang Boundary and the Bamian Mountain outpost were successively breached by the enemy, the Red Army guarding the Tongmuling outpost was forced to withdraw.
Tongmuling Mountain is densely forested and lush, and the scenery is spectacular. In May 1960, when the famous writer Du Xuan came to Jinggangshan, he wrote a poem specifically for Tongmuling: Pine fir is green and verdant, and the water is full of clear streams and clouds around the peaks. People are like pictures on the way, and ten thousand mountains overlap a pass. The great achievements are different from the mountain fruits, and each cliff remembers the hero. Because of the blood of the ranks, the rhododendrons were particularly red.
