Production of the Cybertruck electric pickup has been delayed again.
Originally scheduled for the end of this year, production of the Tesla Cybertruck has been postponed to 2022. Tesla quietly updated the vehicle's order page, removing a mention of the planned 2022 production date.
Several works were postponed
When Tesla unveiled the design of its Cyberruck electric pickup truck in late 2019, the company promised to start production by the end of 2021. Finally, according to Tesla's official announcement, production will not start until 2022.
Previously, the order page for all-electric pickup trucks had a rather encouraging note. The company said customers will be able to "complete their configuration as they approach production in 2022." Today, the page simply informs customers that they will be able to complete the configuration of the vehicle "with the production mode".
As a result, the launch of Cybertruck is likely to follow the same pattern as Tesla Sports cars and Semi Trucks. Both were disclosed in 2017, but production has not yet begun.
Future pickups
The new Tedd plant in Austin (Texas) will be used to build Cybertruck. The vehicle's range should exceed 800 km and reach 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Several models should be sold.
The single-engine, rear-wheel-drive model is priced from $39,900. It is expected to provide more than 250 miles of range and reach 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The other model, the twin-engine AWD, starts at $49,900. It is said that it has a range of more than 480 km and an acceleration time of less than 4.5 seconds from 0-100 km / h. Finally, the most expensive Tri Motor model starts at $69,900. It should be able to travel more than 800 km on a single charge and reach 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds.
Tesla still accepts a refundable deposit of $100 from Cybertruck. At present, the company is said to have accumulated reservations for more than a million cars.
