At the TGA Awards ceremony last month, Shiro Games unveiled the real-time strategy game "Dune Spice Wars" based on the science fiction novel "Dunes", and recently the official answers to some of the questions players often ask on Steam, many of which can help us learn more about the game.
The following is a summary of the content of the official FAQ
Release information for the game
The game will be released in Early Access this year, and the price has not yet been announced. Currently, only PCs are planned for release on steam. Chinese are not currently supported, but officials say it's too early to talk about language support, and it will be adjusted based on the data of players participating in Early Access.
Is it a real-time strategy game or a 4X game?
Both. The tempo of this game is much slower than a typical real-time strategy game, and players can pause and fast-forward. The game also features 4X gaming such as exploration, territory control, economic growth, combat, politics, and espionage, but doesn't diminish the core real-time strategy experience players expect.
About base building
Because the game is much larger than a typical real-time strategy game, the player's buildings expand on the main base and cannot be manually selected to build locations.
The connection between this work and the Land of the North
All aspects of this work have been developed specifically for it and do not use the content of previous works. Both games are slow-paced real-time strategy games, and other than that, they are completely different. The game is much larger, about 2-3 times the length of Northern Lands.
Reason for choosing a somewhat cartoonish and well-defined art style
Since the theme of the game is desert, the first thing to do is to ensure that the visual experience of the player playing for a long time is not boring.
Additional Information
Maps are generated by the program with adjustable options. Different elements within the map can help or hinder the player.
There are 5 factions to choose from, and the Yatridi and Harkenny families have been announced.
Campaign and multiplayer modes do not appear in the initial version, but will be updated later.
Subsequent DLC and MOD support will be considered based on player feedback.
