TRUMP: "Russiagate" is a farce that should revoke the Pulitzer Prizes of The New York Times and The Washington Post

According to Russia Today Television (RT) reported on the 3rd, former US President Trump asked the Pulitzer Prize Committee to revoke the Pulitzer Prize awarded to the New York Times and The Washington Post in 2018, and the two newspapers jointly won the US News Reporting Award for reporting on "Russiagate".

Trump said in a statement released on the 3rd that the reports of the above two newspapers on "Russia's interference in the 2016 US presidential election" and collusion with the Trump team were "wrong narratives", and the relevant investigation ultimately found no actual evidence.

In a letter to Pulitzer Prize interim administrator Bud Klimet, Trump wrote, "As has been widely reported, these reports are nothing more than a politically motivated farce trying to fabricate a false story that my campaign may be colluding with Russia, although there is absolutely no evidence to support this allegation." He had previously called for the revocation of these awards in 2019.

Trump also criticized the media for reporting on sources who were vaguely aware of the situation, saying the article cited "people with knowledge," "current and former officials," "some senior U.S. officials" and other vaguely defined people. He went on to mention the allegations against Michael Sussman as evidence that he blamed the newspapers. Sarsman is a lawyer who worked for Hillary Clinton's campaign. He is accused of lying to the FBI in 2016 when he revealed to the FBI that there were potential links between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

RT noted that The New York Times and The Washington Post won the 2018 National Reporting Award for covering the Russiagate incident, and Trump called for giving both newspapers a chance to "voluntarily" return the awards to the Pulitzer Prize Committee.

"When Pulitzer Prize-winning works are clearly based on shoddy, dubious, and apparently false reporting — as is the case here — the Pulitzer Prize Committee must react accordingly," Trump wrote. ”

Robert Mueller, a former U.S. special counsel who investigated Russia, previously said his report did not "excuse" it, as Trump claimed. But Mueller's investigative report ultimately did not confirm the more sensational stories reported by the media. Trump attributed Mueller's years-long and costly investigation to a "political persecution," saying it was "ridiculed" by the rest of the world. (Editor: HHJ)
