Speaking of the beloved general of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first to bear the brunt of it was of course born in a peasant family, followed Zhu Yuanzhang's uprising at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, and finally led the Northern Expedition to lay the foundation of Xu Da, the capital of the Yuan Dynasty. There is also Chang Yuchun, who is a pioneer, has amazing force, and abandons theft as a good one. Of course, li wenzhong, Lan Yu, Fu Youde, Tang He, Zhu Wenzheng, Mu Ying and many other brave generals were indispensable.

However, speaking of the chaohu water army general, Liao Yong'an, may not be as famous as the previous ones, but he played an important role in unifying Jiangnan in the early period of Zhu Yuanzhang. Not only did Zhu Yuanzhang repeatedly defeat the Yuan army in battle along the Yangtze River, but also broke through the water village in The Hague to resist Zhang Shicheng's army from invading Kuah, and also strengthened Zhu Yuanzhang's determination to cross the Yangtze River.
Therefore, the emergence of Liao Yong'an had a great impact on Zhu Yuanzhang's pioneering strategy in the early stage. Liao Yong'an turned to Zhu Yuanzhang and was reused, and by chance, he could not escape the inevitable law. But it eventually led to Liao Yong'an being imprisoned to death by Zhang Shicheng, and Zhu Yuanzhang failed to make an actual rescue move.
First, strategic needs
Zhu Yuanzhang's initial strategy was mainly to attack the weak areas in the southeast under the rule of the Yuan Dynasty, when the rebellious wars launched by the Red Turban Army against the Yuan Dynasty were mainly in the north, and most of the forces of the Yuan Dynasty's suppression of the resistance forces were moving to the north, which caused a shortage of response to the rebel forces in other regions.
But it is also inevitable that a problem will arise. Water transport was relatively developed in the southeast, although the soldiers of the Yuan Dynasty were not good at water warfare relative to land. Even the Yuan Dynasty had a huge fleet of ships, which made Zhu Yuanzhang's uprising combat more victorious along the coast, but because there was no formal training of the water army, coupled with the fact that at that time, Zhu Yuanzhang's geographical strategic position was not dominant.
There was Chen Youyu in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and Zhang Shicheng in the lower reaches, and both of their spheres of influence bordered Zhu Yuanzhang's sphere of influence, and Zhu Yuanzhang was in a state of being caught, and Zhu Yuanzhang was also worried about his initial territorial expansion. This made Zhu Yuanzhang urgently need a water army with regular training and combat experience. At this time, Liao Yong'an and his brother, Liao Yongzhong, led the Chaohu Water Army to surrender.
Second, there is no way out
Liao Yong'an and his brother Liao Yongzhong were originally the leaders of the water army in Chaohu Water Village, and have been entrenched in ChaoHu Water Village, fending for themselves and resisting the thieves who invaded the water village. At that time, the Yuan Dynasty began to encircle and suppress some guerrilla scattered soldiers, and the nature of the Chaohu Water Army belonged to self-defense, but it was not recognized. It was planned to one side of the force, which made both the Yuan Dynasty army and the local forces look at it.
In this case, the Liao brothers reached a dilemma. In particular, Zuo Junbi, the general of the Southern Red Turban Army at that time, occupied Luzhou for a long time and constantly disturbed the surrounding areas, which made the Liao brothers also fall into an embarrassing situation.
So the two brothers thought about it and decided to find a patron. At that time, Zhu Yuanzhang had already conquered Hezhou and other places in the expansion of his power on land, and initially had a strategic plan to cross the Yangtze River to unify Jiangnan. But suffering from the fact that there has been no effective sailor. In this way, the Liao brothers decided to defect to Zhu Yuanzhang, and this move was like sending charcoal in the snow, and Zhu Yuanzhang was overjoyed.
The Yuan Dynasty army learned of Zhu Yuanzhang's attempt to cross the river south, so it sent heavy building ships to intercept them, which were huge in size, standing in rows on the riverside, like copper walls and iron walls, extremely difficult to attack. However, the Chaohu water army led by Liao Yongzhong rode a light boat to advance and retreat freely, and in several confrontations with the Yuan army, the Yuan army was defeated one after another, and finally successfully helped Zhu Yuanzhang cross the Yangtze River. After that, Liao Yong'an participated in the capture of Taiping and Wuhu and broke through the water village of The Hague.
3. Mistaken mistakes and being captured
Liao Yong'an participated in many battles after defecting to Zhu Yuanzhang, and all the Chaohu water army was invincible and deeply appreciated by Zhu Yuanzhang. Liao Yong'an also accumulated experience in large-scale battles in water warfare, because the momentum was in full swing, and he was constantly promoted, from the privy council of tongyou to the promotion of the privy council of Tongzhi, Liao Yong'an had some proud capital.
The proud soldiers will be defeated, and it is Said that Liao Yong'an is. In the campaign against Zhang Shicheng, Xu Da on land and Liao Yong'an on the water were invincible until Xu Da captured Yixing. After Xu Da captured Yixing, he continued to march forward in a high spirit, wanting to directly attack the Yellow Dragon and directly attack Zhang Shicheng's Old Lair of Pingjiang. However, he thought that the generals of Yixing would rebel again after surrendering and surrender to Zhang Shicheng, so that there was a danger of being attacked by the enemy on their backs.
Liao Yong'an had to quickly return to Yixing by water, and regained Yixing again with Xu Da. However, at this time, Zhang Shicheng also sent his general Lü Zhen to the rescue, and as a result, Lü Zhen was unable to defeat Xu Da and wanted to escape from the waterway.
Of course, Liao Yong'an took advantage of the victory to pursue, and as a result, he killed the enemy and was so desperate that he broke away from the large army, and in the process of pursuing Lü Zhen, the ship ran aground and was isolated, and finally he was captured by Lü Zhen and became Zhang Shicheng's prisoner.
After Zhang Shicheng captured Liao Yong'an, he was not in a hurry to kill him, firstly because Liao Yong'an was also a general and had the heart to surrender. The second is that Xu Da also captured Zhang Shicheng's younger brother Zhang Shide. Zhang Shicheng thought that if he could not surrender, he could also exchange hostages with Zhu Yuanzhang and exchange Liao Yong'an for his brother.
Who thought that Zhang Shide secretly wrote a letter to persuade Zhang Shicheng to surrender to the Yuan Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang not only did not want to exchange his hostages after knowing this, but also killed Zhang Shide, this move made Zhang Shicheng feel sad, although he did not kill Liao Yong'an, he also gave up the idea of surrendering him and imprisoned him.
Liao Yong'an was imprisoned until his death for a total of eight years, during which Liao Yong'an persisted in showing his loyalty to Zhu Yuanzhang. Liao Yong'an knew that his brother, wife and children were all under the control of Zhu Yuanzhang, not only to show loyalty, but also for the safety of his family. In any case, Liao Yong'an could not surrender to Zhang Shicheng.
Although Zhu Yuanzhang knew the importance of Liao Yong'an, his brother Liao Yongzhong was also a prodigy in water warfare, and Liao Yongzhong was ordered to take Liao Yong'an's place and win the Battle of Poyang Lake.
In this way, it was also a matter of time before the fierce enemy Chen Youyu was eliminated and Zhang Shicheng was defeated, and it was not surprising that the role of the water army was not as obvious as in the previous uprising. Even after losing Liao Yong'an, his brother Liao Yongzhong was appointed as the commander of the Water Division. Coupled with the fact that he had already killed Zhang Shide, he was determined not to save Liao Yong'an.
After Liao Yong'an's death, Zhu Yuanzhang also knew about Liao Yong'an's perseverance during his imprisonment, and was very moved, and buried Liao Yong'an. And personally paid tribute to him, posthumously honoring his Wu Min. Later, he was renamed the Duke of Xunguo and made his brother Liao Yongzhong the Marquis of Deqing.
epilogue
Hearing that the jade gate is still covered, you should drive your life away. Years and years of war bones buried outside, empty peach into the Han family.
Zhu Yuanzhang, the ancestor of the Ming Dynasty, fought all the way from the peasant revolt to the establishment of the Ming Dynasty. I don't know how many soldiers are buried in the battlefield, and how many Liao Yong'an can be remembered, in the feudal social system, cunning rabbits die, running dogs cook; birds are exhausted, good bows are hidden; often, in order to establish an empire and unify the world, there is nothing that cannot be sacrificed, and finally even Liao Yong'an's younger brother Liao Yongzhong died under Zhu Yuanzhang's iron fist.
We should be thankful to be in times of peace and grow up in a prosperous socialist country. We don't have to worry about social unrest, we can boldly pursue our dreams, how happy it is!
