According to reports, on the 15th, on the sidewalk in front of the University of Tokyo in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan, a 17-year-old high school girl and an 18-year-old high school boy who were preparing to take the university entrance examination, and a 72-year-old man were slashed in the back with a knife. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested a 17-year-old sophomore on suspicion of attempted homicide.

According to the juvenile's confession, he did not know the 3 people who were slashed, and because his studies were not smooth, he wanted to commit a crime and die. A blood-stained knife was found at the crime scene, and the teenager said that he had brought it out of his home. In addition, he said that he set fire to a station near the University of Tokyo before the crime.

The Tokyo Fire Department and Tokyo Metro corporation said that at about 8:30 a.m., they received an alarm that there were wood chips burning in Todaimae Station on the Subway Namboku Line, and the fire was extinguished after 1 hour. Station staff also found firecrackers and flammables near the ticket gate of Dongda-mae Station.
