The King's Speech is a film released in the United Kingdom on 7 January 2011. A historical film starring veteran actors Colin Fiss and Jeffrey Rush. It tells the story of an uplifting speech after the death of King George V of the United Kingdom in 1936, who, under the treatment of his physician Lionel, overcame the problem of stuttering.

The film won numerous awards in 2011, including the Academy Awards and the 68th Golden Globe Awards. Some people say that the film is mainly about a king who overcomes stuttering, but in my opinion, it is the director who shows us how a "passionate" person can succeed by overcoming his own problems through Bertie's stuttering.

In The King's Speech, I was most moved by the loyal servants of the Duke of Yorkshire (later King George VI). Betty's brother was a man who was about to take over the throne but only loved beauty and did not love the country, he spent all day hanging out with his mistresses and did not care about state affairs; Bertie's father had given him high hopes from an early age that one day he could inherit the throne, and even before his death, he said that his ability was the strongest. However, Becky never thought of replacing her brother as king because of her social contract.

Accustomed to the story of "Nine Sons and Nine Sons", he was suddenly moved by Betty's loyal servants. Know that everyone loses their minds in the face of a throne at their fingertips. Some people say that Bertie did not correct his mentality until he took over the throne, and he never wanted to be king before. But I don't think so:

There is a scene in the movie where Logue (the doctor) sits in Edward's chair, at which point Bertie suddenly gets excited, asks him to get out of his chair quickly, and says that Logue has desecrated the chair. From this we can see that Logue is a man with a desire for power, but because he loves his brother too much and obeys the laws of the country, he will suppress his desire for power.

In his theory of personality structure, Freud divided the complete personality of man into: the id, the ego, and the superego. The ego is the subconscious mind of one's own mind, such as sex, ambition, etc.; the ego is the self cultivated through acquired learning and the environment, using the subconscious and conscious mind to deal with real things; the superego is differentiated from the ego, supervising and spurring one's own behavior under the drive of moralization and conscience.

In The King's Speech, in the face of the drive of primitive desire, Bertie has been using the superego to suppress the original self, obeying the social contract and social ethics. In contrast, in Shakespeare's play Macbeth, Macbeth is a courtier who kills his cousin and undermines the ethics of kinship.

It is often said that choice determines the outcome. The reason why Bertie can win the hearts and minds of the people and overcome the problem of stuttering is inseparable from his superego personality.

When Bertie knew he needed to give a 2-minute speech at the time of his coronation, he felt pressured and said directly: "If my speech is not good, David (his brother) will come back." Every monarch in history has been succeeded at the time of the death or death of an ex, and my ex was not only alive but well alive. This shows not only Bertie's fear of his speech being rejected, but also his fear of his brother returning to take over the throne.

It is impossible for the person closest to the throne not to breed a lust for the throne. But Bertie restrained his behavior with affection and reason, and he was willing to take over until his brother took the initiative to give way.

Bertie does not pay attention to the relationship with her brothers, and the family relationship with her wife and children is also very harmonious. Bertie, who had tried his best not to speak because of stuttering since childhood, came home to see his playing daughters, and he lovingly coaxed the children to sleep, only to have the two girls ask him to tell a story. At this time, Bertie knelt down and performed a flying penguin to her daughters, but the daughters insisted on hearing the penguin story. So he told a story, presumably meaning that the fathers of two princesses had become penguins because they had been framed by witches. Because he missed his daughter Penguin Dad came home and became an albatross so that he could hug his daughter.

This short story not only shows that Bertie is a good father who hurts his daughters, but also shows that his family is very warm. The director's deepest meaning is to say that he is about to transform from a penguin without wings and cannot hug his daughter to a powerful albatross, implying that his life will face great changes, and he will have greater achievements to pave the way for the future succession to the throne.

When I saw this, I was inexplicably moved. When I was a child, my father neglected to care for me because he was particularly busy at work, which made me develop a feeling of silence and inferiority from an early age. Every time I see someone else's children with their parents on the weekend and I only have my mother, I feel both envious and lonely. It wasn't until I grew up that I understood that my family belonged to the "absence of fathers."

"Absence of father" refers to the lack of father's company during the child's growth, which often occurs in divorced families or when the father is too busy to neglect the care of the child. The absence of fathers often causes sensitivity and inferiority to children, just like in the movie "Black Swan", Nina is silent because of the lack of fathers.

Parents not only have the responsibility of childbirth, but also the responsibility of education and companionship. There is a maxim that goes like this: "Parents are the natural teachers of children, and they have a great influence on children, especially young children." There is a scene in the movie where when Bertie returns home to see his daughters after taking over the throne, he instinctively wants to go up and hug them, but the daughters refer to him as "Your Majesty" and use court etiquette. At that moment Bertie stopped, adjusted her mood and hugged her daughter very restrainedly and politely. From the perspective of behavioral psychology, it is not difficult to see that Bertie is a person who loves family members very much.

Bertie's charisma is not only reflected in his loyalty and love for his family, but also in his equal treatment of civilians. In the movie, I was touched by the friendship between Bertie and Lionel.

They in the movie present us with a wonderful contrasting duo. Bertie's helplessness and irritability are in stark contrast to Leonardal's calmness, and their status is one after another, their attitude is relaxed, and their emotions are bright and dark. However, we can see in Bertie that the injuries he had suffered as a child had a serious effect on his stuttering. For example, because of the shape of the "X" leg, it must be corrected with a steel plate; it must be corrected because it is left-handed; because it loves its father and brother, it often chooses silence when attacked by their language. Those wounds we can't see in Bertie's heart, But Lionel can see at a glance.

Although Bertie initially refused to answer Leonardal's past inquiries about him, with the keen judgment of the doctor, he could always accurately say the hurt he had suffered inside.

The friendship between men focuses on the communication of hearts. He seems to be his stuttering orthodontic doctor, but in fact, he also plays a role in healing his inner wounds. He can always help Bertie come up with a good way to get through the current predicament when he is disappointed in himself because of stuttering; he can also keep calm when Bertie complains, and soothe his uneasiness with silence. Lionel's treatment method is indeed different, but it is not until later that we realize that he did not have a doctor's license, did not have professional training through a formal medical university, and only helped him treat him because of sympathy for Leonardo.

The true feeling between people is that when the other party removes his identity and removes his armor, you are still willing to guard him and accompany him. As the saying goes: Don't come to your peak, not leave you when you're at your lows.

In fact, if ordinary people had already angrily executed the fake doctor after knowing the truth, Bertie instead regarded him as a benefactor and helped him overcome the benefactor of stuttering. This also shows that the relationship between them has long been sublimated from the relationship between doctors and patients to friendship, and they feel sorry for each other.

In the movie "The King's Speech", many people say that what they saw was an inspirational story about how a stuttering king overcame this problem through the treatment of doctors. But it seems to me that this story, through the story between Bertie and Lionel, shows us that a king with flesh and blood and a sense of truth uses his personality charm to help him overcome his congenital problems. I think that those great people who have survived in history must also be people of good character who can have so many followers and advocates.
