"The Overall Protection and Revitalization of The Three Mountains and Five Gardens - The 8th Three Mountains and Five Gardens Academic Seminar" was held

On January 12th, under the guidance of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Cultural Heritage, Beijing Union University, the Propaganda Department of the Haidian District Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Haidian District of Beijing Municipality, the "Overall Protection and Revitalization of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens - The 8th Academic Seminar on three mountains and five gardens" was successfully held online. A total of 57 papers were received at the conference, and about 110 leaders, experts and scholars from more than 50 units at home and abroad attended the meeting.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the "Three Mountains and Five Gardens Historical and Cultural Scenic Spot", and Chen Mingjie, secretary of the party group and director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics, used three numbers "three, four and five" to explain the understanding of the three mountains and five gardens. In the past 10 years, the overall protection and utilization of "Three Mountains and Five Gardens" has achieved a triple jump from the district-level strategic focus to the municipal key, and then to the national cultural relics protection and utilization demonstration area. "Four" means that the three mountains and five gardens should be understood from four dimensions, and the overall protection and utilization should be promoted, that is, the thickness of history and culture, the height of ideological theory, the intensity of realistic education, and the breadth of international exchanges. The "five" is to use the "five texts" to promote and expand the protection and utilization of the three mountains and five gardens, that is, the inheritance of cultural context, the activation of cultural relics, literary and artistic creation, cultural creativity and the integration of culture and tourism.

Chu Guoqing, secretary of the party committee of Beijing Union University, pointed out that the Three Mountains and Five Gardens were the royal gardens of the Qing Dynasty in history, and are currently two key areas for the protection of Beijing's historical and cultural cities, which are equally important as the old city of Beijing, and are an important carrier for promoting the construction of Beijing's national cultural center. Relying on the Beijing Studies Research Base and the Sanshan Five Gardens Research Institute, Beijing Union University has made fruitful achievements in the research of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens and won praise from all parties. At the same time, he also introduced the construction of the "Beijing National Cultural Center Construction Research Institute" of Beijing Union University, which will provide a broader platform for the research of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens and expand the depth and breadth of research.

In the keynote speech part of the conference, Cai Bogao, deputy director of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Water Conservancy History Code and professor-level senior engineer, worked on the speech of "Three Mountains and Five Gardens Water System - Foundation of Garden Construction in the Western Suburbs of Beijing", he first sorted out the outflow of Spring Water in Yuquan Mountain and the development and utilization of successive generations, and believed that the spring water of Yuquan Mountain is the most important water source of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens. Then it describes the central role of Kunming Lake in the water system of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens, and also introduces the development and utilization of Xiangshan and Cherry Valley spring water in the Qing Dynasty. He believes that the various water systems in the western suburbs constitute a unified whole and are the basis of the imperial garden architecture of the Qing Dynasty.

Li Jianping delivered a speech entitled "The Bond between the Three Mountains and Five Gardens and the Old City of Beijing - The Long River".

Li Jianping, honorary president of the Beijing Historical Research Association, director of the Academic Committee of the Beijing Studies Research Base of Beijing Union University, and researcher, in his speech on "The Link between the Three Mountains and Five Gardens and the Old City of Beijing - The Long River", told the history and trend of the Yangtze River and its role as a link between the Three Mountains and five gardens and the old city of Beijing, and also introduced the cultural heritage along the Yangtze River, closely linking history and reality and deepening the audience's understanding of the Yangtze River.

Sun Donghu, president of the Beijing Historical Research Association and researcher of the Institute of History of the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a speech entitled "The Fate and Functional Changes of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens", holding that the political requirements and world trends of different eras determine the judgment and interpretation of the nature, function, value and significance of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens, and affect the development trajectory of the garden itself. From the imperial gardens of the Qing Dynasty to the scenic spots after the Republic of China, to the contemporary people's parks, educational bases and cultural heritage, the Three Mountains and Five Gardens can be seen from the great impact of social changes on regional development.

In addition, the seminar also had two sub-venues, which were discussed around the "Excavation of the History and Culture of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens" and "The Protection of the Cultural Heritage of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens".

The seminar was held under the opportunity of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens to become the construction unit of the national cultural relics protection and utilization demonstration area, and the majority of experts and scholars discussed and exchanged from many aspects such as the combing of the historical context, the excavation of cultural connotations, the protection and utilization of cultural heritage, the activation and inheritance of red culture, and the governance system of the demonstration area, and put forward many in-depth academic thinking and practical suggestions, which are conducive to promoting the construction of the demonstration area and helping the protection of Beijing's historical and cultural city and the construction of a national cultural center.
