Zhang Benzheng was a well-known traitor during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and was also received by the Emperor of Japan. The shameful things Zhang Benzheng did were scolded by Chinese at that time.
In 1865, Zhang Benzheng was born in Lushun Huangnichuan Tunguzi'angou, his ancestral home was in Wendeng City, Shandong Province. When he was very young, he entered a private school and studied for 4 years, but he did not learn the backbone of the ancients.
In 1894, at the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War, Zhang Honjang became acquainted with the Japanese secret agent Takahashi Tengbei, after which he worked as a miscellaneous servant and "managed finance" in the hotel opened by Takahashi. Originally, Zhang Benzheng did a good job, but with more and more contact with the Japanese, he gradually became a traitor.
Zhang Benzheng was still a bit of a brain in business, and then he followed Takahashi to Weihai and Qingdao. In 1896, Zhang Benzheng and the Japanese ran the maritime transportation industry, and after doing business for a few years, he had some capital.
In 1901, Zhang Benzheng became independent, chartered two Japanese ships from the Japanese, and then opened the Zhengji Steamship Company in Yantai and served as the general manager of the company. From this time on, Zhang Benzheng's business scope included Weihai, Yantai, Longkou, Tianjin, Yingkou, Dalian, Lushun, and Andong (present-day Dandong).
The first time Zhang Benzheng helped the Japanese do things was during the Russo-Japanese War, when his ships transported arms, grain and other military supplies to Japan. After the end of the Russo-Japanese War, Zhang Delu, who was wanted by the Japanese authorities for Russian affairs and running a shipping line, was a Russian traitor.
At this time, Zhang Benzheng saw a good opportunity and bought Zhang Delu's ship at a low price. After that, Zhang Benzheng vigorously developed shipping, and his company added an average of 3-4 new ships per year.
At the height of Zhang's steamship company, he owned 32 ships, with a total tonnage of nearly 50,000 tons, employing 130 Japanese employees and more than 1,500 Chinese crew members. Although he had so many ships, he helped the Japanese transport military supplies, of which 14 ships were fixed to help the Japanese.
In addition to developing maritime transport, Zhang Benzheng also opened Zhengli Qianzhuang, Zhengji Oil Mill, Zhengji Iron Factory, and Wafangdian Kiln Company in Dalian; he also opened a local bank, a Zhihuan commercial bank, and an agricultural bank in Qingdao; and a Zhenglong Bank, an industrial bank in Dongbian, and an electric light company in Longkou. In addition, there are also special warehouses in Yantai, Tianjin, Andong and other places.
During the Republic of China period, Zhang Benzheng was undoubtedly a famous business magnate. However, such a person who exploited Chinese blood and sweat was flattering to the Japanese. According to incomplete statistics, Zhang Benzheng has donated 740,000 yen to Japan.
Later, in the "aircraft donation" activity that assisted Japan, he alone cooperated with others to donate 40 aircraft to the Japanese army. Because of Zhang Benzheng's donation to Japan, he went to Japan many times and was received by the Japanese emperor.
In addition to devoting all his efforts to assisting the Japanese army in terms of funds, Zhang Benzheng also held many official positions and became a major evil person who brutalized Chinese. The traitors did not have a good end, and after the victory of the War of Resistance, Zhang Benzheng was not punished.
However, after the founding of New China, All of Zhang Benzheng's property was confiscated first, and after statistics, there were bank deposits of 1.715 million yuan (hourly coins), 1050 mu of land, and 1886 houses. On June 10, 1951, Zhang Benzheng was sentenced to death by the Luda Municipal People's Court for counter-revolution and executed by firing squad.
When Zhang Benzheng died, he was already 86 years old, and he was also the longest living among many traitors.
