Official: St Maximan won the North East England Football Writers Association Player of the Year Award

According to the official news of Newcastle, St. Maximan was named the Player of the Year by the Football Writers Association of the North East of England in 2021.

The Newcastle United striker narrowly beat team-mate Callum Wilson to take first place voted by football journalists in the region, with Paddy McNair of Middlesbrough in third.

Sainte-Maximin is the 41st winner of the award, with previous winners including teammates Fabian Shar, Dubravka and Ricci, as well as former Newcastle players including Alain Shearer, Shay Gavin, Fabriccio Coloccini, Les Ferdinand, Kevin Keegan and Peter Beardsley.

The award will be presented on Sunday, March 6 at the Dreamside Hall in Durham, and last year's winners will also receive their awards on the same evening.
