The world's 5th-best-paid former Chelsea midfielder Oscar, hoping to take a pay cut in January, join Barca

Foreign media reported that former Chelsea midfielder Oscar hopes to leave the Chinese Super League Shanghai Harbor in January to join Barcelona in La Liga

This is shocking news considering Oscar's huge salary in the Chinese Super League, as the player is ready to join Barcelona with a big pay cut.

In the winter window of 2017, Oscar transferred from Chelsea to Shanghai Harbour in the Chinese Super League for £50 million, becoming the world's fifth-highest-paid footballer.

Foreign media reported that Oscar's salary in Shanghai SIPG reached 563,000 pounds, equivalent to an annual salary of 28 million pounds, which Barcelona could not match.

However, that doesn't seem to stop Oscar's willingness to join Barca. Because Oscar intends to take a sharp pay cut to go to the Camp Nou.

Last year, the Chinese Super League set a salary cap on clubs and a separate salary limit for foreign players. This has caused many foreign aid to leave the Chinese Super League.

Barcelona's financial woes are also there for all to see, and Oscar knows that Barca can't offer him a high salary in the Chinese Super League.

But the desire to return to Europe's top five leagues and re-compete in the World Cup could prompt Oscar to take a big pay cut to complete the transfer deal for Barca.

While playing at Chelsea, Oscar won two Premier League titles, a Premier League Cup and a Europa League, when he was considered one of south America's most attacking players.

However, the last time Oscar made his appearance for the Brazilian national team was in 2016.

The player believes that joining Barcelona will help him return to Brazil and participate in this year's World Cup.
