Hello everyone, I'm Xiao Li talking about art! Today we're going to talk about Eli's story.

Eli was a Jewish priest and high priest, and he enshrined Jehovah in the temple in the capital, Shiloh, and was Jehovah's faithful servant. One day a woman named Hannah came to the temple and made a wish to God, saying, "O Almighty Lord, if you take care of the sorrows of your maid, give me a son, and I will make him belong to you for life and serve you for life." "It turned out that this woman had been abused for not being able to conceive all the time. Eli comforted her and said, "Go back with confidence, the Lord will bless you, and you will be ready for anything." Hannah thanked gratefully. Hannah returned home, slept with her husband, and became pregnant. So the following year, Hannah gave birth to a son and named him "Samuel". Hannah kept his oath and sent him to Eli after Samuel was weaned, and Samuel was a man of integrity, and Eli liked him very much.

Eli was a good man, but he wasn't a good leader. It all started with Eli's two sons, one named Hophni and the other named Phineha, who acted in the power of their father. They often took the sacrificial meat of the temple to the prodigal princes of the city to eat and drink, and they even fooled around with the women who guarded the temple. Eli often tried to admonish them bitterly, but they still went their own way. Eli had no choice but to turn a blind eye, but this was known to God Jehovah.

One night, Samuel, who had been asleep, suddenly heard someone calling his name, and Samuel woke up, thinking that the elderly Eli was calling him, so he ran to Eli, and Eli replied, "I didn't call you, go to sleep." Samuel went back to bed, and before she could fall asleep, she heard someone shouting, "Samuel! Samuel ran to Eli again and said, "Did you call me just now?" Eli replied, "My good boy, I didn't call you, go to sleep." So Samuel went back to lie down again, but soon he heard a call, and Samuel told Eli that someone was calling to him in the temple of Eli, and Eli realized that God was calling samuel, so he said to Samuel, "Go back to sleep, and if you hear anyone calling you again, say, O LORD, the servants listen." Sure enough, Samuel had just fallen asleep when the same call reappeared, and Samuel, following Eli's command, replied, "My Lord, please speak, and the servants shall hear." The Lord said to Samuel, "The things I have said below must be fulfilled in Eli, who condoned and shielded his two sons, and I will always give sin to his family, and no matter how many sacrifices I offer, the sins of his family cannot be redeemed." The next day, Eli asked Samuel, "O my son Samuel, what did the Lord say to you last night?" Samuel was reluctant to tell Eli, but Eli asked him repeatedly, and Samuel had to tell everything as it was. Eli was horrified and worried from then on.

One year, the Philistines came to invade the Jews, and the Jews were defeated and lost much of their land, which they believed was because they did not carry the Ark of God. So he sent his men back to tell Eli about this, and Eli sent his two sons to transport the Ark of the Covenant to the barracks, and his two sons had never believed in Jehovah, and the reason why the Ark of the Covenant had miraculous power was because those who came into contact with him needed to be loyal to jehovah, and if not, it was just an ordinary cupboard. Sure enough, the war failed, Eli's two sons were killed by the pursuing Philistines, and the Ark of the Covenant was taken captive. At this time, the elderly Eli was sitting in a chair outside the main hall waiting for news, when he heard that more than half of his people had been killed and wounded, two sons had been killed, and finally even the Ark of God's covenant had been taken captive. The old Eli fell from his chair in fright, slammed his head on the lintel, and died by bending his neck, and Eli ended his career as a scholar.

In the upper right corner of the picture, the Ark of the Covenant fell into the hands of the Philis; in the lower left corner, Eli fell from his chair, injured his neck, and died in horror after hearing the news that his son had been killed and the Ark of the Covenant had been taken.

After Eli's death, his family also suffered misfortune. Eli's daughter-in-law was dying when she heard that her husband and father-in-law had died one after another, and died of excessive dystocia due to shock. In the end, none of the Eli family survived.

After Eli, word spread everywhere that Jehovah had made Samuel a prophet, and Samuel would become the new Jewish leader in the future.
