A 5-year-old child hikes 3,000 kilometers with his parents across the Appalachian Mountains

The 5-year-old boy, along with his parents, hiked 3,500 kilometers across the Appalachian Mountains in 209 days. After that, the little boy will go to kindergarten. He was immersed in the joy and pride of the whole hike.

Harvey Sutton, known as the "Little Man," is widely known for his feat. He is the youngest person to have recently completed the entire Trail, which starts at Mount Springer in Georgia and goes all the way to Mount Katadin in Maine.

The journey was arduous but also fun, and he could observe frogs, lizards and other wildlife along the way. Also, it's delicious to spread peanut butter on tacos.

"Climbing rocks is a tough game and we never get tired of it." Harvey said gleefully in a telephone interview in Virginia. His home is in the state.

Mom and Dad were so busy playing with him and caring for him that they forgot about the pain of the long journey. "It gives us a bond and strength that we weren't aware of before." Mom Cassie Sutton said.

Harvey was only 4 years old when he started traveling last January, and he turned 5 before the family completed the trip.

Mom and Dad said he was a few months younger than the Buddy Backpacker, the boy who set a record for the youngest person to complete the trail in 2013.
