Andrew Garfield said he was not handsome enough to star in The Chronicles of Narnia

Spider-Man fans agree that Peter Parker, played by Andrew Garfield, is a megaloman, but the actor said not everyone was impressed by his looks, and that he had been unable to play Prince Casbin in the Narnia Legends movie because of his appearance.

In an interview with Variety magazine, the actor said he was very eager to join the Chronicles of Narnia series when he was just starting his acting career.

Garfield recalls: "I remember being very disappointed. I went to audition for Prince Cassine in The Chronicles of Narnia, but it was the handsome and talented actor Ben Barnes who got the role." Garfield pestered his agent after he was rejected, and the agent told him, "Because they don't think you're handsome enough."

Garfield, however, did not feel any hostility because Barnes looked better than himself, saying: "Ben Barnes is very handsome and talented. So in retrospect, I'm not upset with that decision, and he did a good job."

Moreover, we all know that Garfield's career after that was also smooth. Following the defeat of Narnia Legends: Prince Cassbin in 2008, Garfield gained attention in 2010's Social Network, and later starred as Spider-Man Peter Parker in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man.
