According to historical records, the White Plate of Yu Jizi was excavated during the Daoguang Years, when the local governor of Baoji, Shaanxi Province, was appointed by the Qing Dynasty as the Yuchuan Division, because Baoji was historically a fief of the Western Zhou Kingdom, and soon after the excavation of this cultural relic, it was identified as the treasure of the Western Zhou Dynasty Yu Jizi, which has a high value. Therefore, at that time, the White Plate of Yu Jizi was once acquired by Xu Xie, who served as the county commander of Mei County, and then Xu Xie brought the treasure back to his hometown of Changzhou when he retired.

Later, during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Chen Kunshu, the protector of the time, was responsible for guarding Changzhou, and after his arrival, he received many rare treasures, and soon this plate changed hands and became his treasure. Due to the great power of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the Qing court soon sent a Han courtier Li Hongzhang to suppress it. In the third year of Tongzhi, Liu Mingchuan, a general of the Huai Army who was then directly subordinate to the viceroy, accompanied Li Hongzhang to the south to suppress the Taiping Army.

After their troops conquered the city of Changzhou, Liu Mingchuan took up residence in the Protectorate Palace. At about midnight, Liu Mingchuan was sitting under the lamp reading a book, which was originally silent, but suddenly there was a pleasant metal impact, which was not loud but very crisp.

Liu Mingchuan was very curious, so he took the candle to check it out, and when he turned to the house, he saw a stable, and the sound came from here. After careful observation, he found that the manger used for this military horse was very large, looking like a "big bathtub", and then he gently buttoned it with his fingers, and immediately there was a clear voice sounding, Liu Ming knew that this manger had an extraordinary origin and should be a treasure.

So early the next morning, Liu Mingchuan first ordered the groom to brush the manger clean, and then he sent someone to escort it back to Liu Laoxu Village, his hometown in Hefei. Although Liu Mingchuan got this White Plate of Yu Jizi, it brought great trouble to his descendants. Since then, during the Republic of China period, local warlords, Japanese Kou, Kuomintang officials and other forces have sent people to ask for it, so the Liu family has to bury this treasure in the ground, and even the whole family can only leave their hometown and flee to other places.

It was not until after the founding of New China that Liu Mingchuan's fourth-generation grandson Liu Su once dug up this treasure and dedicated it to the state. The cultural relics experts of that year found that there was an inscription engraved on this bronze plate after research, which also recorded a period of history.

The gist of this is that King Xuan of Zhou defeated the Xiongnu on the north bank of the Luo River in the twelfth year, killed five hundred enemies and captured fifty prisoners alive, and King Xuan held a grand celebration to recognize his exploits. Later, Yu Jizi specially ordered someone to make this bronze plate to commemorate his honor.

Nowadays, this white plate of Yu Jizi, which was once used as a manger, has been placed in the National Museum for protection, because this inscription has special historical value, plus it is a precious cultural relics of the Western Zhou Dynasty, so this White Plate of Yu Jizi has also become a well-deserved treasure in the National Museum.
