In July 2021, due to the sudden attack of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Yangzhou City was forced to press the pause button, and at the time when the people of the city were isolated at home and jointly fighting the new crown pneumonia epidemic, in order to unite the anti-epidemic forces and carry forward the spirit of anti-epidemic, sponsored by the Yangzhou Women's Federation, the Yangzhou Women's and Children's Activity Center and the Yangzhou Literary and Art Creation Research Association, the "Children's Painting War Epidemic" Children's Calligraphy and Painting Competition was launched for the whole city. The event was welcomed by the majority of families in the city, and from July to September, nearly 1,000 children's calligraphy and painting works were collected online, and the children's young and sincere calligraphy and painting works conveyed the hope of the people of Yangcheng.
Through the expert selection, more than 300 outstanding works stood out, and the Yangzhou Women's Federation gathered them into a book and gave them to the participating children at the award ceremony site to help them record the special summer of 2021. At the award ceremony, the Yangzhou Municipal Archives collected the album and exhibited the first exhibition of outstanding works in the "Children's Painting War Epidemic" Children's Calligraphy and Painting Competition.

Tao Jingxin, a child who won the first prize, pointed to his comic strip works and said: "During that time, my mother was on the front line of the fight against the epidemic, I did not see her for more than 40 days, and every few days my mother would send me photos, so I used my own paintbrush to record this special day."
