Apple submitted plans to South Korean regulators that would allow third-party payment systems to appear in app stores

Reuters news on January 11 south Korean telecom regulator said on Tuesday that Apple had submitted plans to allow third-party payment systems to enter its app store to comply with a new South Korean law that prohibits major app store operators from forcing software developers to use their payment systems.

South Korea officially implemented the amendments to the Telecommunications Services Act in September 2021. The bill prohibits mobile software market operators from imposing their own payment systems on software developers and allows the government to investigate application market operators on the grounds of preventing losses to users and protecting their rights and interests. As a result, South Korea became the first country in the world to ban the use of payment systems such as Google and Apple, which force developers to use.
