Shutting down Yahoo Answers, Yahoo said the most important and immediate reason was the "decline in popularity." If the site continues to maintain its early popularity, it's safe to say that it's still there. This decline is largely a direct result of the quality (or lack thereof) of the answers offered by the site. The overall usefulness of Yahoo Answers has been declining over the years compared to sites like Quora and Reddit, where much of the site's content has evolved into conspiracy theories and meaningless messages. Unlike its competitors, Yahoo has never been able to control these elements and maintain its attributes as a useful destination.
