Webmaster's House (ChinaZ.com) Jan. 10 News: Daniel Ives, managing director and senior equity analyst at Wedbush, wrote Saturday that Tesla's plant in Austin, Texas, will begin mass production in the next 7-10 days. He noted that according to the company's research, all the paperwork has been done, and in fact, the company has been given the green light to start production.
On January 1, there were rumors that Tesla's Texas Gigafactory was about to start mass production. On Jan. 4, Travis spokesman Hector Nieto said that some areas of the plant had received certificates of compliance from local fire chiefs. Since the existing Texas factory building will be used to produce the Model Y, Model 3, Cybertruck, and Semi, there's every reason to believe that the certificates refer to the workshop that makes the Model Y, and Tesla intends to start producing the Model Y. So, these documents may have paved the way for Tesla to start production.
As demand for Tesla vehicles continues to grow, it is important for the Texas plant to go into production. In 2021, Tesla delivered about 936,000 vehicles, about half or even more of them were Model Y. Compact SUVs are in high demand, but not in sufficient number, and it is crucial to open additional production facilities.
Production at the Berlin Gigafactory has been delayed due to lengthy approval procedures, so the Texas plant is likely to start operations earlier than the European plant, which began construction a few months ago. The imperfection of Germany's political apparatus has had a negative impact, but production at the Berlin factory should also begin soon, as the approval process is already in its final stages.
