Slave, for many people, is a familiar and unfamiliar word, it refers to a person who has lost his personal freedom and is arbitrarily driven, oppressed, exploited by others to do things for others. There is no doubt that slaves lived an extremely bad life. But as the saying goes, "Where there is oppression, there is resistance." "Since ancient times, there have been many slaves who have tried to rebel, but unfortunately, the chances of success are not very likely.
But even if there is only a 0.1% chance, they will not give up, more than 200 years ago, a black slave from Haiti, successfully rewrite history, turned into the emperor, after the ascension to the throne, his first order, is to eliminate all white people, for a time, thousands of white people died here, but 2 years later, he ushered in tragedy.
On September 20, 1758, a baby boy fell to the ground on a plantation in Grandivière, North Haiti, but from the moment he was born, he was doomed to a tragic future life— because both of his parents were slaves. Since slaves were "in no right" to name their children, the slave owners named him Jean-Jacques de Sarin, a child who, unbeknownst to anyone, would change the life of a Haitian slave in the future.
First, let's take a brief look at haiti, an island nation located in the northern part of the Caribbean Sea, across the sea from Cuba and Jamaica to the west, covering an area of 27,800 square kilometers. Originally inhabited by a group of simple Indians who lived an indisputable life, in 1492, the arrival of Columbus completely destroyed their lives, and soon it became an Italian colony, and in 1502, it became a Spanish colony.
At first, the Indians on the island resisted many times, but soon failed under the weapons of the Spaniards, and the day-to-day oppression gradually brought them to their knees, and the indigenous people of the island were almost extinct. Later, the Spaniards abandoned the place, and the French immediately "took the baton" to land, and under the rule of the French, the place became richer and richer, but corresponding to it, the slaves lived more and more miserable.
In 1681, King Louis XIV of France even issued a decree allowing plantation directors to lynch black slaves. In this regard, this place became the "hell on earth" of black slaves, and the whites, with the slightest dissatisfaction, punched and kicked the black slaves, beat them with whips, and even worse, directly put the blacks into sacks, threw them into the river, or fed them to dogs... Finally, the slaves could not stand it any longer and rose up in resistance, but failed again and again.
Jean-Jacques de Sarin was slightly "luckier" than they were, because his master was a free black man, but that still didn't change de Sarin's nature as a slave. In 1791, a new slave revolt broke out in Haiti, and Desalin immediately joined in, but he had considerable military talent and led the team to several victories, so he became a leading figure.
After a full 13 years of effort, Desalin and his rebel army finally broke through Fossa, the last fortress of the French here, and then Desalin read the Declaration of Independence, and thus Haiti became independent, becoming the first country in the history of the world to be established by a slave uprising.
With the support of everyone, Desalin was put on the throne, because he had witnessed the atrocities committed by whites against black slaves since childhood, and Desalin had a deep hatred for whites, so his first order after ascending to the throne was to destroy white people. In 1804, the Haitian massacre broke out, and in just a few months, more than 5,000 French people died here.
After the massacre, Desarin continued his rule, wanting to quickly revitalize the local economy, but unfortunately the people were not educated, lacked all kinds of technology, and even had no commercial activities. In order to increase agricultural production in a short period of time, Desalin went so far as to re-establish the "plantation system" and severely punish those who did not work hard, which was not fundamentally different from that of the white farmers of that year.
It soon aroused the dissatisfaction of the people, but Desalin still insisted that in 1806, there was a riot in Haiti, de Sarin himself went to suppress it, and as a result, he was assassinated, but 2 years after he ascended to the throne, it was really regrettable.
