In the women's singles final of the first leg of the WTA250 Melbourne Summer Series, No. 2 seed Halep overcame the unfavorable start of being broken in both sets to defeat No. 3 seed Kudmetova 6-2 6-3 to win the cup again after the 2020 Rome race. It was her 23rd career title, 12th in hard courts and her first in Australia.
