The Swedish royal family issued a statement on the 8th, saying that Crown Prince Victoria of Sweden tested positive for the new crown virus on the same day and is currently isolated at home.

The statement said Victoria had completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccination and was currently experiencing cold symptoms but in good mental condition. Victoria is staying at home with her family, and her and husband, Prince Daniel, will adjust their official schedule of events over the next seven days. Royal doctors are tracking the chain of infection.

This is the second time Victoria has been confirmed to be infected with the new crown virus. In March last year, the Victorian couple tested positive for COVID-19 but did not develop severe illness.

On the 3rd of this month, King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden and Queen Sylvia tested positive for the new crown virus and were subsequently quarantined at home. The Gustavs have received three doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, Sweden has adopted a relatively relaxed anti-epidemic policy, and the number of new confirmed cases has surged recently. According to statistics released by the Swedish Public Health Agency, there were 23,877 new confirmed cases of new coronavirus in the country on the 5th, setting a record for the highest number of new cases in a single day since the outbreak of the epidemic. At present, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Sweden is nearly 1.42 million, and the cumulative number of deaths is 15,377.
