Literature/History of the Four Seasons
Qu Tutong (557–628), surnamed Qu Tu , was a famous general during the Northern Zhou and Tang dynasties, and the son of The Assassin Ofe Shi Qutu changqing of the Northern Zhou Dynasty. Qu Tutong was born in Chang'an gangyi wuluo, good at riding and shooting. He is one of the twenty-four heroes of Ling Yan Pavilion.
There is a folk proverb: Rather eat three buckets of Ai, do not see Qu Tu Gai, prefer to serve three buckets of onions, not Qu Tu Tong.
The folk proverb describes the fierce fame of the two brothers at that time. Who can eat three buckets of green onions? After normal people have eaten, they must be so hot that they can't help but roll their eyes, but people would rather bear these pains than want to come into contact with Qu Tutong, and you can imagine the "power" of Qu Tutong.

Flexion
Here we highlight some of the flexion. Qu Tutong was originally a famous general of the Sui Dynasty, but why did he later become the founding general of the Tang Dynasty, and it is reasonable to say that Qu Tutong's tough guy personality, how could he choose to submit to Li Yuan?
First, Qu Tutong, who is loyal to his duties for the country
Jiang Guozhong was a famous general of the Sui Dynasty, who went through the two dynasties of Emperor Wen of Sui and Emperor Jue of Sui, one of the twenty-four meritorious servants of Lingyange, he was a loyal and dignified minister, and people also loved him very much, and was deeply favored by the Sui Emperor. Qu Tutong has been straight since childhood, has a strong personality, and is good at riding and shooting. After joining the army, he spoke bluntly and put down the rebellion, and has always been a great achievement in battle.
During the Sui Dynasty Emperor's southern tour, Qu Tutong was sent to guard Chang'an, when Gaozu Li Yuan raised an army, and then Qu Tutong was defeated at Yumaquan and Tongguan, and the war once fell into a stalemate. During this period, many people came to persuade them to surrender, including Li Yuan's emissaries, but Qu Tutong refused one by one.

In the last years of the Sui Dynasty, the imperial court was full of corruption and chaos in the world, and although Qu Tutong suppressed the anti-Sui forces, there were more and more anti-Sui forces in the world. Although Qu Tutong tried to defend the city, first, there was a huge disparity in strength, and second, there was no support, and at this time his men persuaded him to surrender.
At that time, Chang'an was in the hands of Li Yuan, and Qu Tutong's family was also captured. Qu Tutong then prepared to go to Luoyang to surrender to Yang Dong, the king of Yue, and let Sang Xian and Zhen Shoutong Pass. However, as soon as Qu Tutong left, Sang Xianhe dedicated Tongguan to Li Yuan's army. Subsequently, the Tang army sent people to pursue Qu Tutong, and at the same time, the Tang army sent Qu Tutong's son Qu Tushou to persuade Qu Tutong to surrender. But Qu Tutong said to his son, "We were your father and your son, but now we are your enemies." So he ordered the men to shoot his son with arrows. But at this moment, Sang Xianhe said to Qu Tutong and the others: "The capital has fallen, you and the people of Kansai, where do you want to go?" After Qu Tutong and the others listened, they threw away their weapons and surrendered to the Tang army.

Second, recognize the hero and the hero, the Tang King gave three points to Qu Tutong, and the tough guy sincerely surrendered
"I am worthy of Your Majesty, worthy of the God of Heaven and Earth."
The moment Qu Tutong laid down his weapon, his emotions were completely out of control. Qu Tu informed that the general trend had gone, but still did not forget to face the south, and shouted the anger in his heart to the Sui Emperor.
It is conceivable that a tough man who is just and righteous, or even a tough man who is righteous and kills his relatives, completely collapses, and more importantly, the Sui Dynasty is completely over under his witness, and a new dynasty is about to come, and he has completely become a "second minister thief".

After Qu Tutong was escorted to Chang'an, Li Yuan said, "We hate each other late!" Qu Tutong said: "Qu Tutong was unable to fulfill the duties of his courtiers, and it was a disgrace to his own dynasty that he was ashamed of the king." Li Yuan was not angry, and said, "The loyal subjects of the Sui Dynasty are also loyal subjects." Qu was given the title of Bingbu Shangshu and Jiang Guogong. In a sense, it was not qu tutong who surrendered to datang, but that datang "softened" to qu. Because Li Yuan was impressed by Qu Tutong's integrity and felt Qu Tutong's loyalty, Li Yuan persuaded him to surrender several times and could not bear to kill him.
3. Qu Tutong was able to die well and was ranked as one of the twenty-four ministers of Ling Yan Pavilion
After Li Yuan ascended the throne, Qu Tutong was reused, and he followed Li Shimin to pacify the four sides. When Wang Shichong pacified Luoyang, Qu Tutong's merits were great, and it was not long before Qu Tutong was appointed as the right servant of the Shaanxi Dadong Bank and guarded Luoyang. In the years of struggle, Qu Tutong and Li Shimin not only had a master-servant relationship, but also a military friendship, and Qu Tutong had become the indispensable loyal general under Li Shimin.
The change of Xuanwu Gate, Li Shimin's yellow robe was added, which had the credit of Qu Tutong. After the change of Xuanwu Gate, Li Shimin was worried that Luoyang would rebel, so he sent Qu Tutong, who had once guarded Luoyang, to Luoyang. Li Yuan saw That Li Jiancheng, That Li Yuanji was dead, that Li Shimin had taken power, that Li Yuan had given way to Li Shimin, and that Li Shimin was emperor for Emperor Taizong of Tang.

After Li Shimin ascended the throne, he began to appoint meritorious ministers, and Qu Tutong was also commended for his meritorious service. At the age of 72, Qu Tutong died of illness and was posthumously honored as a loyalist. In 643, Emperor Taizong of Tang li Shimin painted twenty-four meritorious men in Lingyan Pavilion, Qu Tutong ranked 14th, and during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang, Qu Tutong was posthumously awarded the title of Sikong.
