The Japanese army invaded and occupied Dongtai City in Jiangsu Province on March 25, 1938, and after the Japanese came, they burned houses, massacred people, raped women, committed many crimes in the face of the bare-handed people.
On April 10, 1938, the Japanese enemy who was entrenched in Dongtai City was entangled in Dongtai and Liangduo, and more than 200 Japanese kowds in Anfeng brought a lot of incendiary bombs to the big puddle, and the area around Tang Liuzao set fire. Rikou burned from the Chen Degao family in the south of the stove and burned a total of seven zhuang houses in Huangjia Yizao, Zhujia Yizao, Gaojia Yizao, Taojiazao, Tangjiazao, Liujiazao, and Dawa. The fire burned more than ten miles and destroyed more than 1,500 houses. Among them, Tangliu Village was burned to more than 290 households, and more than 700 grass and tile houses were burned. There are more than 2 pig pens, nearly 300 pigs are burned, more than 10 cattle are cultivated, 160,000 catties of grain, 210 large agricultural tools such as water wheels.
After the Japanese invasion, the area around Tang Liuzao was full of flames, the cries were tremendous, and a large number of peasants' homes were destroyed, displaced, and unable to survive. In addition to burning houses all the way, the Japanese army also killed people when they saw them. Some peasants who could not escape were stabbed to death with bayonets. A peasant husband and wife and their son's family of three hid in a cave in the ground, and when Rikou found out, he was pulled out and the whole family was stabbed to death. Another peasant surnamed Chen was taken away by Rikou, who signaled him to lie on the ground, he had no choice but to follow Rikou's will, and he fell down with both hands, who knew that the peasant surnamed Chen had just fallen, and a Rikou standing behind him stabbed him in the anus with a gun. In an instant, blood spurted and he died tragically under the butcher's knife of the Japanese Kou.
At the end of 1938, the Japanese withdrew from Dongtai because they needed to support other battlefields, but even this did not stop the encroachment on the people of Dongtai.
During the period from the spring of 1939 to the second Japanese invasion of Dongtai Castle in the spring of 1941, Japanese fighters organized five large-scale bombings of Dongcheng City.
At six o'clock on April 5, 1939, five Japanese and Kosovar fighters took turns to attack Dongtai City, first hanging reconnaissance, and then fiercely bombed, the most seriously damaged was Temple Street, where the Japanese Kou dropped bombs, but also dropped incendiary bombs, and a large area of housing was blown up and collapsed, thick smoke was everywhere, and the fire burned.
According to the recollections of witnesses at that time, the martyrs who were killed and injured by the explosion were bloodied and their corpses were strewn across the streets, some of them were in two different parts, some of their limbs were flying, and their flesh and blood were blurred.
After the enemy planes were killed, the residents ran out of their hiding places, fighting fires, lifting people, crying sadly, and the anger of hatred soared into the sky. On this day, a restaurant opposite the temple was bombed Chinese, and the house collapsed, killing and injuring several people. There was also the Huatuo Temple being bombed, and a crowd with a high surname was bombed at the entrance of the temple. According to post-war statistics, the Japanese Kou bombed this time alone and killed more than 40 local people.
