Affected by the shortage of semiconductor supply, Mercedes-Benz's total sales in 2021 have declined. The passenger car segment fell 5% from last year to 2093476 units, while the light commercial vehicle segment rose by 2.6% to 334,210 units. In terms of models, Mercedes-Benz G-Class sales hit an all-time best, reaching 41,174 units, but there is still a gap of nearly double compared to the 87,064 units of the flagship S-class. Notably, more than a third (35.5%) of the S-Class are sold in China. Maybach, its ultra-luxury brand, grew sales by 50.7 percent last year to 15,730 units, of which about 11,000 were sold to China, accounting for more than 70 percent. In addition, another sports brand, AMG, also rose sales by 16.7% to 145979 units.
