Xu Zhaoshou's Journey to the West: A Book of Self-Confidence on Chinese Culture

The famous writer and scholar Xu Zhaoshou's new book "Journey to the West" was recently held in a sharing meeting in the Beijing One-Way Space.

Professor Yang Qingxiang, a young critic and deputy dean of the College of Letters of Chinese Min University, believes that in the writing about the west, Zhang Chengzhi, Chang Yao, and others grew up or worked in other places and later went to the west, so the west is a kind of content and spirit that they "discovered" or wrote, and they can be called the adopted sons of the west, and Xu Zhaoshou and Ye Zhou are real concubines, writers who were born, grew up in, and wrote in The west. Xu Zhaoshou wrote about a cultural west, which is the source of living water of Chinese culture, so his "western trilogy" can be called new western writing.

Post-70s writer Ah Yi believes that modern technology has ruled mankind, people live in various diseases, Xu Zhaoshou's "Westward Journey to Enlightenment" just provides us with a path that can walk towards ancient times, can experience the traditional Chinese culture of the kind of path of heaven and man, it can make us re-understand people and the world.

Li Weichao, executive editor of the "Modern Chinese Literature Research Series", believes that the literature in the western region is an indispensable space for Chinese literature, just imagine what the picture of Chinese literature would be without Zhang Chengzhi, Zhou Tao, Chang Yao, Ma Lihua, Yang Xianhui, Liu Liangcheng, and even Lu Yao, Chen Zhongzhong, Jia Pingwa, Alai, etc. Now, Xu Zhaoshou has improved Western literature from the cultural space with continuous writing, especially the "Q&A Trilogy".

At the sharing meeting, doctors, masters and university students from Peking University, Chinese Min University, and Beijing Normal University recited excerpts from "Journey to the West" and talked about their feelings about reading the book.

Fan Yingchun, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chinese of Peking University, said that Xu Zhaoshou does not expect human beings to truly realize the return to the original in the process of looking back at themselves, but precisely hopes to soothe the present and illuminate the future. Only by discovering the clarity and transparency of the place can we better move towards the glory and dream of tomorrow. "The most important thing is to break the closed thinking, to go to openness, to the world picture." Perhaps this is Xu Zhaoshou's truly inclusive humanistic feelings and the Heaven and Earth Avenue realized on the road to the west.
