According to a survey by game market analysis firm Newzoo, The game most likely to be played by Final Fantasy XIV players is League of Legends.
In the article, titled "How to Use Player Audience Overlap Surveys to Enhance Marketing Strategies," the company aims to explain to clients why its data has important needs in game companies' promotion products and marketing strategies, and gives two examples: Final Fantasy XIV, the most popular MMORPG today, and player audience overlap data for building the puzzle game Robles.
The data shows that Final Fantasy XIV players have 17% overlap with League of Legends players, the highest of any overlap. Others include Apex Heroes (12%), World of Warcraft (10%), Minecraft (9%), Protos (9%) and Destiny 2 (7%). This data comes from Newzoo Expert's analysis of player coincidences during the August 2021 single-month period.
For Robles, the game with the highest degree of player overlap is undoubtedly Minecraft of the same genre, with a 49% overlap, and considering that most Robles players are children, Fortnite (21%) with the second highest degree of overlap is not surprising. Other games are CS:GO (18%), Riot's Valorant (18%), GTA V (18%), and League of Legends (13%).
According to Newzoo, gaming companies that use its services will use the data to identify their key competitors and benchmark their performance. They also learn the categorical statistics of each game to see which themes, art styles, game features, and spending strategies are better accepted by that user group.
