Maps help! Italian police "accidentally caught" the most wanted man who had been absconding for 20 years

An Italian mafia leader was arrested after absconding 20 years ago, and it was Google Maps that contributed to it.

According to CNN reported on the 6th, the 61-year-old Gamino was guilty of murder and was the most wanted man in Italy, who has been hiding in the small town of Galapagal in the autonomous region of Madrid, Spain. Italian police recently used google maps' street view feature to accidentally capture the chat of two men in the town in front of a vegetable and fruit shop stall, one of whom resembled a absconding Gameno. Police later found a photo of Camino wearing a chef's suit on the promotional page of a nearby restaurant and confirmed his identity from a scar on the left side of his chin. Eventually, the police arrested Gamino.

Gamino, who lives in Spain and changed his name to "Manuel", was surprised to ask the police when he was arrested: "How did you find me?" I haven't called my family in 10 years! Prosecutors in charge of the investigation said the two-year-long investigation had concluded that the culprits were hiding in Spain, and Google Street View had only helped confirm. (Feng Guochuan)
