Zhang Tingfa was born in Shaxian County, Fujian Province in April 1918, his parents engaged in handicraft production, and his year-round income could not meet the family's food needs. After that, the relationship between the Kuomintang and the Communists turned into a direct confrontation, and Zhang Tingfa followed the Red Army team through many provinces and regions, fighting wits and courage with the enemy along the way, breaking through the heavy defensive lines, and finally meeting the brother troops in victory.

After the outbreak of the All-out War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zhang Tingfa served as chief of staff in the 386th Brigade of the 129th Division of our army. His command style is calm and calm, he can see potential opportunities in a serious situation, is good at grasping the opportunity, and then gives the enemy a fatal blow and annihilates the enemy.
In June 1942, the Japanese army received information on the location of our command post and secretly organized special operations forces to launch a rapid offensive in a vain attempt to launch a decapitation operation in the hinterland of our army. Zhang Tingfa usually led the team to extremely strict requirements, and arranged a number of open and dark sentries near the base area. After the secret approach, the small units of the Japanese army were immediately ambushed by the dark sentry, and their whereabouts were exposed in an instant, but due to their fierce firepower, our military strength was limited and it was difficult to hold a stalemate for a long time. Zhang Tingfa immediately made a decision and led the guard troops to cover the evacuation, avoiding serious losses.

In the subsequent Liberation War, Zhang Tingfa gave full play to his military command ability. From northwestern Jin, all the way south, into the Dabie Mountains, Zhang Tingfa not only defeated the reactionaries, but also gathered civilian armed forces along the way, mobilized the masses, and established revolutionary base areas.
After the founding of New China, Zhang Tingfa was mainly responsible for the management of the Civil Air Force, and he personally organized a team of experts to establish a training system for the People's Air Force to quickly form combat effectiveness in a short period of time. The training results of this system were quickly verified in the Korean War, and our Air Force pilots were not inferior to the enemy's pilots who had thousands of hours of flight time.
In 1969, for various special reasons, General Zhang Tingfa was sent to the local government for a 10-month labor reform, and in the dark, he still maintained a firm position on the party and the state. Finally, in 1973, Zhang Tingfa resumed his work and continued to manage the work in the People's Air Force.
