In 1949, the confrontation between the Nationalist army led by Chiang Kai-shek and our party showed a downward trend, and after the defeat he retreated to Taiwan. Before leaving, he wanted to kill three people, all of whom had been inextricably linked to him, some of whom had been his confidants and one of whom was his relative. After learning of Chiang Kai-shek's assassination plan, Song Meiling was furious when she learned of it: only one could be killed.
After the September 18 Incident, Chiang Kai-shek adopted a policy of non-resistance to the Japanese army, which led to the complete fall of the northeast, and the famous patriotic generals Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng launched the Xi'an Incident in 1936, which shocked China and foreign countries. Chiang Kai-shek, who lost face in this incident, held a grudge against Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng. It was not until 1949 that Chiang Kai-shek finally could not sit still and handed over a list of assassinations to Mao Renfeng, the commander of the military.

In Song Meiling's view, After all, Soong Ching Ling is her own sister, and even if the political views are different, it will not reach the point of assassinating her, so she and Chiang Kai-shek turned their faces and said that they could not kill Soong Qing ling. Whether out of jealousy or out of the end of soong Mei-ling, Chiang Kai-shek finally revoked his plan to assassinate Soong Ching-ling, and Soong Ching-ling escaped the disaster.
