The Centennial History of Chinese Archaeology (1921-2021) was published by China Social Sciences Press, edited by Wang Wei, member of the Faculty of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, director of the Department of History, and chairman of the Chinese Archaeological Society. 276 experts and scholars from the three generations of archaeology, which lasted for three years to co-author, is divided into four volumes and twelve volumes, with a total of 9.172 million words.

The book divides Chinese archaeology in the past hundred years into four parts: Stone Age Archaeology, Xia Shang zhou period archaeology, Qin and Han to Song, Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties archaeology, scientific and technological archaeology, and various archaeological topics, each part is decomposed into about 50 research topics, and each research field is reviewed according to chronological order and the context of research progress.
