The Centennial History of Chinese Archaeology (1921-2021) was published by China Social Sciences Press, edited by Wang Wei, member of the Faculty of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, director of the Department of History, and chairman of the Chinese Archaeological Society. 276 experts and scholars from the three generations of archaeology, which lasted for three years to co-author, is divided into four volumes and twelve volumes, with a total of 9.172 million words.
The book divides Chinese archaeology in the past hundred years into four parts: Stone Age Archaeology, Xia Shang zhou period archaeology, Qin and Han to Song, Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties archaeology, scientific and technological archaeology, and various archaeological topics, each part is decomposed into about 50 research topics, and each research field is reviewed according to chronological order and the context of research progress. The main contents include: archaeological discoveries of great significance for research in various fields, the publication of important research results, the proposal of innovative academic views on research in related fields, the application and impact of new research concepts and new theories and methods, etc., and the analysis and comments combined with the academic background and dynamics at home and abroad, including the prospect of the future development direction of the field.

It is reported that the authors of "A Century of Chinese Archaeology (1921-2021)" are all first-class scholars with profound research skills in related fields at home and abroad. The vast majority of scholars are "post-50s" and "post-60s", and some "post-50s" or "post-60s" scholars lead the writing with young scholars, and a small number are undertaken by doctors graduated from "985" universities in recent years.
