Wood movable type printing is one of the four major inventions in ancient China, the inheritors of pear wood and other wood engraving, movable type printing, with neat handwriting, brush ink incense, simple and timeless characteristics. Xiaohe Township "Yixingtang" wooden movable type printing is one of the only 3 remaining wooden movable type printing living inheritance in the country, with a full set of skills such as "reverse word direct engraving", which has a history of 160 years, and was rated as Changsha Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2018. The inheritance and development of wooden movable type printing in Xiaohe Township is related to the local Hakka culture, with the migration of Hakka people in Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi and other places in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the Hakka people who migrated from afar in order to preserve history, remember ancestors, pay attention to the revision of family trees, wooden movable type printers were called "genealogists" at that time. Up to now, "Yixingtang" has printed more than 20,000 family trees for 26 surnames around Xianggan and saved 80,000 character models.
In order to better protect and inherit the wood movable type printing intangible cultural heritage, Xiaohe Township started construction in May 2021, which took 7 months to complete, with a construction area of 147 square meters and a capacity of 100 people to visit.
