It's official: Liverpool have submitted an application for a rescheduling of the League Cup semi-final with Arsenal

Liverpool club confirmed on its official website that due to the increasing number of suspected positive cases of new crown in the team, resulting in the absence of a number of players, the club has submitted an application to postpone the first leg of the League Cup semi-final match with Arsenal on Thursday.

Liverpool have officially made a request to the EFL in a bid to reschedule the game. There are currently multiple suspected positive cases among the club's players and staff, in addition to illness and injury problems, which have had a great impact on the team's squad. Liverpool have halted preparations for the AXA training centre, cancelling first-team training on Tuesday.

Today the Liverpool club submitted an application to the EFL in the hope that the EFL would consider a game rescheduling. If the application is approved, the Reds want to inform the fans as much as possible so as not to affect their travel to the away game.

The match was scheduled for Thursday and the situation in Liverpool is unlikely to improve at the moment and is likely to deteriorate, with the club believing the demand to reschedule the game is both prudent and reasonable.

Liverpool will provide more information in due course.
