Korean media: The production line of Samsung's Xi'an semiconductor factory is running flexibly

With the extension of the lockdown time, Samsung's semiconductor factory production line in Xi'an, China, is running flexibly. According to South Korean media outlet businesskorea, Samsung said it is taking measures such as using global production lines to ensure that Xi'an's long-term blockade does not affect its service to customers.

It is understood that Samsung's layout in Xi'an is dominated by NAND Flash, with a monthly production capacity of about 120,000 pieces in the first phase and a monthly production capacity of about 130,000 pieces in the second phase, accounting for 42.3% of the company's NAND Flash production capacity and 15.3% of the global production capacity.

Samsung puts the safety and health of its employees first, with one executive saying, "Commuters now work in dormitories at the Xi'an factory. Although the Xi'an factory has less labor than usual, it has not stopped the production line. ”

The report pointed out that unlike the shutdown of the Austin plant in the United States in early 2021, Samsung's Xi'an plant will not stop production or reduce production. Semiconductor factories operate 24 hours a day, and once the production line is stopped, the wafers put into it cannot be reused, and even if the production line is restarted, it will take time to increase production. Samsung lost about 400 billion won in early 2021 due to a cold snap at its plant in Austin, USA.
