In the 33rd year of the Republic of China (1944), during the period of the enemy and the puppet frenzied clearance of the countryside, the Central Soviet Administrative Office held a cultural and educational work conference in the countryside of Gaoyou, at which the patriotic and democratic progressives of the education system were commended, that is, the famous "Eight Elders of the Soviet Union".

1. He Jingping (1878-1950), name Zhenyin, character Jingping. A native of Rugao, Jiangsu Province, he was born in Zhulou Village,Chemahu Township (now part of Guoyuan Town). In 1905, he graduated from Tongzhou Normal School (now Nantong Higher Normal School). He was the first to cut braids to show his support for Dr. Sun Yat-sen's political ideas. After the Xinhai Revolution, he was appointed as the head of the second-class primary school attached to the Rugao Normal School.

In 1913, he became the principal of Rugao County Normal School. With "Guiquan" as the educational purpose and "truthfulness" as the school motto, he has cultivated a group of primary school teachers with excellent character and learning. When the New Culture Movement arose, Mr. Huang Yanpei's students Chen Xiangtao and Guan Jincheng were hired to teach new ideas in literature, and then he succeeded him as the county counselor, the inspector of the Education Bureau, and the chief bureau member.

In 1939, Han Jun hired He Jingping as the principal of Zishi Middle School (the predecessor of Haian Senior High School). In 1940, when the New Fourth Army marched eastward into Huangqiao, He Jingping, Together with South Korea's Jun and Zhu Luxian, urged the Chongqing authorities to stop the civil war and unanimously resist Japan, and at the invitation of Chen Yi, went to Hai'an to participate in the Provisional Political Council to discuss the great plan of the War of Resistance. Shiren was known as the "Gentleman of Suzhong".

After 1942, he served as a senator of the Ruxi County National SuffrageTte And presided over The Ruxi Middle School. In 1944, in his year gao Dezhao, the people's government praised him as one of the "Eight Elders of the Soviet Union". In 1946, he became a standing committee member of the Provisional Participation Committee of the First Administrative Region of the Suwan Border Region. In the autumn of the same year, he was wanted by the Kuomintang and took refuge in Shanghai. In 1949, northern Jiangsu was liberated, and Hui Rugao became the principal of Rugao Middle School. In 1950, during attending the People's Congress of all walks of life in Northern Jiangsu, Yangzhou, he returned from illness and died of ineffective medical treatment. In his honor, the library of Rugao Middle School in Jiangsu Province was named "Jingping Library"

2. Gu Yinyu (1881-1955), formerly known as Chuji, was a native of Nantong, Jiangsu. Born in Shuxiang mendi, he loves poetry. In the 28th year of the Qing Dynasty (1902), Keju was an appendage, and together with Xu Yixiu, Cao Xunge (cao Wenlin, Zixun Ge) and Gu Yisheng in the same city, he was known as the four talents of Nantong.

After the abolition of the imperial examination, Gu Entered the Preparatory Department of Nanjing Higher School (now Nanjing Senior High School in Jiangsu Province) and studied at the Liangjiang Excellent Normal School. After graduation, he engaged in educational work, and successively served as a language and literature teacher in Jiangsu No. 7 Middle School (now Nantong Middle School), Chongjing Middle School (now Nantong No. 13 Middle School), Girls' Normal School, Commercial Middle School (now Nantong No. 12 Middle School) and other schools.

When the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out and Tongcheng fell, Gu Yinyu was not willing to be enslaved by the enemy and immediately moved to the countryside. After the New Fourth Army marched eastward, it followed the Communist Party and worked in the anti-Japanese base areas and liberated areas until the end of the Liberation War, successively serving as the principal of Qiusheng Middle School, the United Middle School of the Second Sub-district of Suzhong (later renamed the Joint Middle School of the Fourth Sub-district), and the Nantong Middle School of the Ninth Sub-district of Suwan. He had a strong revolutionary conviction, and under difficult conditions, he trained many revolutionary young people with ideals and culture, and made great contributions to the cause of the new-democratic revolution and to the building of new education. In the 33rd year of the Republic of China, Gu Yinyu was commended by the CPC Central Soviet District Party Committee as one of the "Eight Elders" in the educational circles of Central Jiangsu who insisted on the War of Resistance.

After the liberation of Nantong City, Gu Yinyu was appointed as the first principal of Nantong Middle School (then known as Nantong Municipal Middle School) in Jiangsu Province after liberation, and successively served as a member of the Supervision Committee of the People's Administrative Office of Northern Jiangsu, the first people's representative of Nantong City, and the vice chairman of the Nantong People's Political Consultative Conference.

3. Gu Yisheng (1882-1955), known as Gongyi, Zi Yisheng, a native of Nantong, Jiangsu, was born in Nantong, a family of scholars in Nantong. Late Qing Dynasty Talent. Shan Shi Nengwen, together with Xu Yixiu, Cao Wenlin, and Gu Yinyu, was called "The Four Talents of Tongzhou". Tongzhou Normal School (now Nantong Normal) is the first batch of undergraduate students.

In 1902, Zhang Jian founded the private Tongzhou Normal School, and Gu Yisheng resolutely gave up the examination and became the first batch of students of the normal undergraduate program in March of the following year. During his studies, he was eager for new knowledge, studied hard, and achieved excellent results, which was appreciated by the founder of the school, the school's prime minister Zhang Xiao, and The Japanese teachers Tadaoro Kimura and Nishitani Toraji. After graduating in 1906, he stayed on as a teacher of pedagogy, psychology and Chinese language.

In March 27 of the Republic of China, Nantong Fell, Tongzhou Normal School moved to the Second Affiliated Primary School of Tongshi in Haifu Town, Gu Yisheng took a wheelbarrow for 200 miles with the body of a flower armor, and continued to run the school on the shore of the Yellow Sea. In the spring of the 30th year of the Republic of China, Zi Gu Minyuan (the county magistrate of Qidong County after the New Fourth Army marched east) died tragically. Gu Yisheng lost his son in his later years, but his will was still extremely strong and he insisted on teaching. In the 32nd year of the Republic of China, the Japanese army frantically "cleared the countryside" sweeping, the school could not be taught in the second annex, he and teachers and students, rented private houses, held schools, and persisted until the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan. The following year, the Central Bank of the Soviet Union held an education work conference to award awards to intellectuals who insisted on anti-war education, and Gu Yisheng was commended as one of the "Eight Elders".

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Gu Yisheng served as a school director and participated in the reconstruction of the new school building of the General Division. In 1952, Gu Yisheng was a rare student, and he had been teaching in tongshi for 45 years, and the school built a "Yiting" memorial.

4. Yu Chen (1877-1956), Zi Jingzhi, a native of Tongzhou, Jiangsu Province, a local educator, was born on July 6, 1877 in Qi'an Town, Nantong County. In 1902, he studied at the Minrik Normal School founded by Zhang Jian, graduated in May 1906 with excellent grades, and was sent to Waseda University in Japan the following year. In early 1910, he returned to the school as the director of the fasting service. He has successively served as the general director of the Tongzhou Persuasion Institute, the head of the school affairs department of the Tongzhou Civil Affairs Branch, the chief of the third section of the county office, and the principal of the provincial seventh middle school.

In 1921, he resigned from his post outside the school and took full-time responsibility for the Affairs of Nantong Normal School. In 1928, he became the secretary of the school board and from 1929 he presided over the daily work of the school. He was principal in 1935 until 1952.

Yu Chen devoted his life to local education, pursuing progress, strict management, and vigorously supporting and protecting progressive students. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he and Gu Yisheng waited for the "overseas Chinese school" to run the school with difficulty, and insisted on anti-Japanese democratic education behind enemy lines. In 1944, he was commended by the Central Bank of the Soviet Union as one of the "Eight Elders of the Central Soviet Union". In 1952, the school became public, and Yu Chen retired. He was elected as a deputy to the Nantong Municipal People's Congress three times. Mr. Li works carefully and meticulously, diligently and steadily; everything is big and small, he is well managed and close to the students, so he is quite trusted by teachers and students.
