Yu Jianhua, deputy director of the Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment and spokesman, said that in 2021, the number of excellent days in Beijing reached 288 days, accounting for 78.9%, close to 80% of which increased by 112 days compared with 2013, which is equivalent to the number of excellent days in 2021 being nearly 4 months more than in 2013. Among them, the number of first-class excellent days in 2021 is 114 days, an increase of 73 days over 2013, and the blue sky background color is purer and the "gold content" is more sufficient.

While the blue sky has increased significantly, the number of heavily polluted days has decreased significantly, and the frequency, peak concentration and duration have decreased significantly. In 2021, there were 8 days of heavy pollution, a decrease of 50 days compared with 2013, a drop of 86.2%. Heavy PM2.5 pollution in summer and autumn is basically eliminated.
