As soon as I made it clear, they opened their mouths in Shaanxi dialect. I asked a question, and several mouths answered me, but I couldn't understand it, and I could only laugh awkwardly. Secretary Wang said in a loud voice in Mandarin with a Shaanxi accent: "You all speak Mandarin, and the little girl can't understand Shaanxi dialect." Secretary Wang is not very old, but there are already deep folds in the middle of his eyebrows, and his smile is very simple. He has been the secretary of the village for 30 years and is very loved by the villagers.
Although Ren Mingjie, the protagonist of "Years on the Mountain", is already an elderly man, his thinking is very active and his reaction is also very sensitive.
Ren has been retiring for more than 20 years and has been following in the footsteps of his grandfather Tian Boyin. Under her influence, my first stop was in Jingyang County, a place where I lived next to Jinghui Canal. The Jinghui Canal, presided over by Li Yizhi and built with the assistance of Tian Boyin, made the whole of Jingyang County green.
The old people in the village had a deep affection for the canal and told me that it was the "mother canal".
